Haha when I had to have Mieze in a crate for a couple nights she started sleeping in the cat litter tray :/ how do ลทou other cat owners stop that happening? It was a huge GSD size dog crate too haha! You can't stop them from sleeping in the litter tray - they do that because it smells of them and they think they're invisible if they lie down in there.

ebony haha okay, I was just wondering in case we ever have to crate either of the cats again. I wondered if anyone else maybe had the litter tray separate or anything. She ended up covered in bits of cat litter which was quite disgusting.

J1M Hopefully you & cheryl will stay with the forum even when Ringo is better & in the mean time its lovely hear good updates on him. By the way found of couple of old posts that might be of interest to you. yourpetforums.co.uk/post/35617/threadyourpetforums.co.uk/post/68021/threadposts are from a member (not around here so much now) whose 11 month old cat had an accident & landed up being treated by Fitzpatricks (supervet) His treated leg looks like Ringo's. Not much you can do smilesbetter, when we go to cat shows its surprising how many are asleep in the litter tray!

Pets I own: Have always had cats as far as I can remember. Currently the owners of a Tabby kitten called "Ringo". He was born Weds 29/04/2015 & we got him Thursday 18/06/2015. He's just over 3 months old at time of writing. He is light grey with black Tiger stripes & he has black rings around his tail & back legs, hence the name "Ringo". Nothing to do at all about The Beatles. Now he has started to develop a beigey colour in his coat, & in some photos & different light, for some reason seems to have a slight orangey/ginger colour.
He's a right character, always friendly & loving & happy to see us, always following us around the house, always charging around & playing with his toys & stalking anything that moves, & then when he gets tired, jumps up for a fuss. Couldn't ask for a better cat. He's perrrfect.

First time we've shopped at Pets At Home & we're not really that impressed. I had already long left for work but because of advice yesterday, at 7.30 this morning(Thurs 1st) Cheryl ordered & paid for the dog crate with the option of delivery or pick up from the store, she chose to pick up at the store as we wanted it straight away. As soon as it opened, a friend took her to our local shop, gave the cashier the order number who said it wasn't in yet & to expect an email either late this morning or this afternoon so she could collect it. When I finished work at 5pm she still hadn't had an email so i decided to drop off & inquire. Before I asked, I had a look to see if they had any & they had 2 on the shelf. When I asked about ours at the till, they said it hadn't been delivered yet. I was confused. I said we chose pick up from store not delivery. When I said that was no good to us as we need it now for our poorly cat, they said, we could buy another one from the store today & they would let us know by email when the other one was delivered & when we went down to pick it up from them we could get a refund from it. I said "but you've got 2 on the shelf, why can't I just take one of those", again, he repeated what what I was just told. Is it just me but I thought that was so stupid. It makes me think the shops are only franchised by private shop owners like a lot, but not all old Tandy electrical stores used to be or something. It seems that the online part of the company has nothing to do with the shops, like they haven't got the computer ability to work around the shops daily stock count. Pick up from store just means you can have it delivered to the store instead of your house. Being a bit on the spot, I had no choice but to pay for one off the shelf. Ringo hates it. And it didn't stop the bugger from climbing. At one point we were worried he might hurt himself even more. When he started doing laps at the top of the cage, I felt I had to do something. He wouldn't stop but I think I may have solved that. I altered the lid of the box it came in to fit snugly over the top like a hood. Touch wood, he hasn't climbed the cage since. We also have what 'smilesbetter' mentioned, sleeping in his litter tray & he keeps laying on his bad left leg side more than his good right side. Surely he can't be comfortable laying on that big blue thing. We've tried to get him to lay on all sorts, including the blanket from his carrier, but at the moment he's not interested in a soft bed. Cheryl rang Toachim House also today & spoke to Andrei again. She told him that he was being a bugger & that we've had to get a crate for him & how much exercise is he allowed. Andrei doesn't really like confining them to cages for to long a period & said that he's ok to come out if we can get him to lay on the floor or lay on the end of the sofa with us, but as soon as he gets up & wants to wander or show signs he may be about to, he's to go back in, and definitely at night time & if we go out. We like the idea of clip on bowls so they don't get knocked over. For the time being, I've put his fountain in because he can't knock it over like a bowl. At least he's calmed down now & not going to hurt himself. Andrei did sympathise with us because Ringo was a little boisterous for them & could imagine what he's being like for us. He said the nurses all liked him & said he was a right character. They all said what Cheryl & I thought when we 1st saw him with his mum at 4 weeks, he's definitely got some Bengal in him.

And another contender for the monthly comps J1M ? Ringo is certainly challenging you , I was going to suggest covering with a blanket, till I got to your part where you said what you had done strange about the litter tray, maybe its a comfort factor having the cosyness of being confined between 4 sides if that makes sense Going back to the fundme, have you put that link out there amounf ALL your friends etc and asked them to fwd it on ? Just a thought. Going bacl to pets@home I would be calling head office about that, lay it on thick, tell them of your plight how expensive you have had to cough up already how desperate you were for the crate and having to faf around with buying another crate only to have to apply for a refund on the other one...etc etc. You may get the crate gifted to you. Ooo I love a challenge like that I'll do it for you if you want LOL

Hahaha death me. Our crate is one of the big plastic ones for flying large dogs, so there's not much a cat can climb thankfully, I think Mieze would be the same as Ringo in it otherwise.
Shame he is sleeping in the litter tray but at least the litter might be a nice soft bedding for his leg as it will probably mould slightly around it. Awch, well that's good you can have him out while you're there and hopefully this will at least help the healing and prevent further injury.

Please thank your daughter very very much. Thank you. We put it on FB & re share it during the day to keep it fresh on the time lines & have asked everyone if they can share it too. Cheryl even joined Twitter the other day so she could get it out there.

We had the same issue initially with Roman J1M, but he did stop climbing (or rather in his case rearing up) after a day when he realised he couldn't get out. His incarceration was initially to ease his a try. limping (which didn't work!) & then recuperation from an op. until the tissues had all healed. PAH do vary from branch to branch but I think scallywag is right contacting head office (or let her do it) is worth a try. I had a look at the web site & they do have some website only discounts so that may have had something to do with it or they aren't exactly the same. I like the sound of your vet - doesn't like incarceration but recognises the need in the case of Ringo! They think he's part Bengal - oh boy - fun & games with a boy that knows what he wants & won't rest till he gets it They are lovely cats, a friend of mine has one but they are determined & independent.

I hope they can use the vouchers not everyone shops there. I don't They are still trying to see if their charity department will do a gofundme but wont hold breath - again worth a try off now to see if anyone else has done the gofundme nosey sod aint I

Disaster with his fountain. Came down this morning to find his fountain empty & everything else was soaked. We think he must've got his blanket on it & it soaked up all the water. So that's come out now. As he's confined to the living room, for the moment, I've put it right beside his cage for when he comes out. This morning after eating he was wanting to wander around the room & do his normal things so for his safety, had to go back in for a couple of hours. Let him out at midday & after a bite to eat & a drink, we got him to lay on the sofa till 1pm when we gave him his meds. So far, it's now 19.55 & he's still on the sofa laying down & generally being a very good boy. We're proud of him, although he wasn't impressed when i tried to clean around his pins this evening. It's been helpful with me having my rotored days off today to help Cheryl out look after him & tomorrow to take him for his 1st post op check. I had to post the photo below. That's the normal way he usually sleeps on the sofa, he does like to sprawl out. I think he's funny when he does it. He's used his litter tray a couple of times this afternoon & he's now got diarrhea, he hasn't been sick. So when we take him for his 1st post op check tomorrow, we'll tell them. We think it's probably his medication so they may have to change it, but then he doesn't have to have anymore pain killers until tomorrow at 1pm. He doesn't seem to be off his food & is still drinking his water. We'll let everyone know what the vet says tomorrow about his diarrhea. Four weeks is going to seem like an eternity. I can't wait to have him charging around like a loony again & pouncing on us from his Y shaped tunnel. He's always been very playful & has got lots of toys.

He looks like he\s been having a nice relaxing snooze on the couch there anyway, shame hes got diarhea though, hope that clears up soon. It might be because of his medication. Good luck at the vets tomorrow!
