I'm Cheryl, wife to Jim & "mum" to Ringo. Jim & I found out tonight from Toachim House that the finance company they use have declined our application. We have unfortunately had to put an appeal on GoFundMe.com as we have now exhausted all ideas available to us. www.gofundme.com/3e55uqw4We would very much appreciate it if members could have a look. Thank you.

Sorry for my sense of humour x {HUGS}

Pets I own: Have always had cats as far as I can remember. Currently the owners of a Tabby kitten called "Ringo". He was born Weds 29/04/2015 & we got him Thursday 18/06/2015. He's just over 3 months old at time of writing. He is light grey with black Tiger stripes & he has black rings around his tail & back legs, hence the name "Ringo". Nothing to do at all about The Beatles. Now he has started to develop a beigey colour in his coat, & in some photos & different light, for some reason seems to have a slight orangey/ginger colour.
He's a right character, always friendly & loving & happy to see us, always following us around the house, always charging around & playing with his toys & stalking anything that moves, & then when he gets tired, jumps up for a fuss. Couldn't ask for a better cat. He's perrrfect.

Fingers crossed we can reach what we need to bring our baby home to us. Cheryl & I have not long got back from taking Ringo to Toachim House Veterinary Surgery in Faversham for his operation. We saw & spoke to Andrei Uricaru, who will be doing the operation. He said he will be putting a long rod down the length of Ringo's thigh bone & into the bone after the break to keep the 2 parts straight & in the right place. Then, to stop the 2 parts twisting on the rod, he will put 2 pins all the way through his leg, 1 at either end, then connect the 2 pins together with some sort of cage. Then, all going well, Andrei said that because he is so young, his leg should be healed in 3 to 4 weeks. Then he will be charging around & getting up to mischief again. ABDOMEN-Left Lateral ABDOMEN-Dorso-ventral Vet notes from our vet in Borden Lane, Sittingbourne. When we spoke to Andrei this morning the nightmare got a little worse too. He went through what was needed & the estimate for Ringo's treatment went up yet again to just under £2700. " Ringo's Vet Surgery Appeal" - Please do what you can. We've been really proud of him these last few days since the accident. He's been eating & drinking fine & even been a bit playfull when we have brought a toy over to where he was laying & played with him. He's been a brave little boy. We will be ringing Toachim House later to see how he is & how it went.

Sorry to hear your kitten is having to go through all this but hope he gets better soon and that the surgery goes well. I would donate but I have just had to pay a large amount for vet bills myself (and wow, your vet charges way less for X-rays than mines, and my cat wasn't even sedated plus I was the one holding her in position). Hopefully they have overestimated the cost and it will work out as a lot less for you. Good luck with the crowdfunder and keep us updated on how Ringo gets on! Lots of pics would be awesome

Hope you don't mind me asking....how did you get round the finance issue? I know referrals/vets themselves don't offer credit so I'm assuming you managed to find a way of funding Ringo's treatment whilst you raise the required amount on Gofundme.com?

Hi gypsy. It's been a horrible predicament we've never been in before, found ourselves out of our depth, & hope to god we are never in this situation again.
Some may call us wreckless or irresponsible but we went for the surgery without any finance up front. It was payment on collection. To us, we felt we had no choice as the other options to us were not acceptable. Euthanasia or amputation. We felt backed into a corner with no where to run. We knew we had only 5 days to come up with the money & felt sure we could work something out.
Just like most pet owners we know, as far as we are concerned, Ringo is a member of our immediate family & not just a pet that lives in the family home. He's our baby & we love him very much.
The vet said to us that apart from being broken, his leg has nothing else wrong with it. With that, we could not justify amputation just because of cost. We would never have considered it with our children or ourselves so why consider it with Ringo. He may only be an animal but he is also a cherished & much loved member of our family & it would be our failings an his owners if we didn't place his health & wellbeing above monetary & material things.
Now with almost zero hour upon us, we have finally had the last phone call from the last of what seemed like a thousand finance companies, but with the help of GoFundMe, 1 finance company we found this morning & a credit card company, we have finally just about made up what is needed to pay for his operation. We may now be in a lot of debt, but at least our baby is now on the mend, coming home & is still in one piece.
We are picking Ringo up tonight from Toachim House at 6pm. When we get home, we will post a couple of pictures of his fixed leg & keep everyone updated on his progress. Again, thank you all for all Ringo's well wishes & support. It is all very much appreciated.
