I was just wondering if anyone else's dog watches TV?
Myka will sit in front of the tv enthralled. It doesn't matter who's house she is in either, or how big/small the tv is. She also recognises all the adverts with animals in them and bark at them until they disappear. She now recognises these so well, that if she hears a particular advert and she is in another room, she will recognise it and come rushing in to watch and bark at the relevant point where she knows the animal appears.
Can be quite entertaining at times and bloody annoying when your trying to watch something. We have now trained her to be quiet by using a "naughty lead" which we use to put her in a quiet room until she gets the message. We have been doing this for a while now and just the threat of the naughty lead is enough to make her be quiet.
Myka is most likely not the only one, but I was just wondering how others cope?
ps Myka's bark is particularly ear piercing when she sees another dog on the box.

Rosa watches occasionally if there is an animal on the TV but she loses interest usually. My cats like any programme which features birds and will try and attack the screen at times, or sit in pre- pouncing position with their tails swishing about crazily.
Glad Rosa doesn't bark at the TV like Myka does haha, that sounds really cute though, have you git a video of her rushing through for an advert she likes? Would love to see that haha!

I'm glad Myka's not the only one. I have some videos of her, will have to dig one out and upload it.

Looking forward to seeing it Right after posting here before I watched a video milliepup04 posted and Rosa thought the cat, who was lying on the iPad, was talking and started sniffing her and staring at her with her head cocked, which reminded me... When I watch videos of dogs where you can hear them panting, Rosa gets up and runs over and gets very excited. Also when I watch videos of people saying commands to dogs, and when I watch videos of Rosa (even if she can only hear the noise of her running in leaves or something, it's like she knows it's her). If I watch a video of my man or me saying a command to Rosa, she often runs over and actually does that command or jump up at us as well haha which I forget far too often and end up with her galloping across a room towards me haha.

... But when I watch TV and there is animals on that she doesn't seem so interested, which is weird, maybe coz she's been used to the constant noise on the TV whereas when I watch a video on my iPad it's more out of the blue.

Haha! Sorry smilesbetter!
Millie watches it sometimes if she sees a dog. She's not normally too bothered but sometimes she sees a dog and goes rushing towards it! When the dog goes off screen she looks next to/behind the TV to see where it's gone!

Alfie sometimes watches the TV but most of the time he isn't bothered.
If I'm watching one of those RSPCA or vet programs and a dog yelps or whines because it's in pain then he starts running around the whole house barking and going ballistic. Just seeing a dog on the screen will have no reaction from him.
He doesn't like that Channel 4 'Underdog' advert that's been on recently - the one where there's a terrier as a person, talking to the Channel 4 presenters (bet nobody knows what I'm going on about lol). There's one point in the advert where the dog lets out a yelp/whine and he goes mad!

Einstein watches TV, he gets very interested in the TV sometimes. He cocks his head and genuinely seems to be taking it all in. We had a True Detective marathon the other day and he sat with us actually watching it, not making any noise or looking away, he was WATCHING the TV, so strange ...

You could find the advert on YouTube? Oh yeah haha - duh! Well he's gone and proved me wrong now and didn't react to it! This is the advert: The bit he usually reacts to is 19 seconds in.

Haha well Rosa looked over her shoulder each time the dog made a noise to begin with then decided it was boring and resumed snoozing. She's being a lazy lady today.

Earl and Ethel only pay attention to the TV when other dogs are barking on a programme! Then they'll cock their heads and bark along!
