Hello everybody, A lot of you will know me already so I will sort of update my life for my good friends on here but for those who may have joined the forum during the time I've been gone let me introduce myself to you! My name is Jessie, I've finally left school which I have been looking forward to very much! I'm working in the dog groomers on Saturdays and enjoying it very much! I'm actually taking one of my dogs in this weekend to groom him myself (with help of course!). Then within the next few weeks I will receive my GCSE results and start my Veterinary course in college! Exciting yet scary times! For the newbies, my furbabies are as follows: Roman - Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel (10yrs) Charlie Boy - Westie (9yrs) Cindy - Yorkshire Terrier (8yrs) NEW ADDITION (was my grandads dog - he can't look after her anymore) Brooke - Shih Tzu (2yrs) Callie - Shih Tzu (almost 1 year) NEW ADDITION Kitty-Aslan - Ginger Moggy (5yrs) Snarfy - Tri-colour Moggy (around 9/10yrs - he's a rescue) I am looking very forward to getting back involved within this friendly and loving community and speaking with people who I have made good friends with. I am also looking forward to 'meeting' the newbies and their furkids! Will be nice to be back (Now that I have more time to manage ) Love Jessie and the furkids x

Well thank you very much orpheous87 and yes, well we rescued Kiera, a Siberian Husky, 1 year old bectil . And well, we were completely lied to and misled with her behaviours and the problems that she had so we did have to re-home her. I was devastated to have to give her up as we could of really helped her if it wasn't too much of a risk for my 6 year old sister Having said that we re-homed her to a Siberian Husky rescue and she is now in foster with a woman who works with the rescue and owns her own 4 Huskies. So we're happy she is in good hands where she will find a forever home with proper assessment for the right family! I will let everybody know how the results go! Thanks for the welcomes back, happy to be back really.

Aw, that's such a shame about Keira! But it's good to know she's in good hands

It sure is a shame as although she needed a lot of work, I really bonded with her over the 5 days we had her and she was beginning to really trust me and what have you but of course, my little sister's safety is first and Keira had some problems like showing aggression when guarding toys, treats/food and on the lead, etc. She clearly hasn't had a good life so far, she was really underweight (weighed the same as my Westie for crying out loud). I just hope we did the best thing for her

Oh, the poor thing. Of course, safety has to come first and aggression is definitely something you don't want to mess around with. I'm sure you have. It sounds like the woman fostering her knows the breed well and that'll probably help a lot.

Yes well, that's exactly. Especially since Keira was actually near enough face to face with my sister (height wise for both of them) and we were scared that my sister would try to take toys off her by playing as she knows Charlie or the pups aren't aggressive and will let her take them. Too risky unfortunately. But as you say, the woman has a lot of experience behind her, I actually know her through helping with Akita rescues that I do and basically I don't like to see breeds like Akitas and Huskies in your average kennels because they are difficult breeds to have (hence why they are increasing in the kennels) and people usually just take them on because they are good looking (and wolf type) breeds.

Jessie99 welcome back Good luck with your GCSE results and with starting college. It's a shame about Kiera, but you did the right thing even if it sometimes doesn't feel like it. Unfortunately with a rescue dog you don't always find their problems until they are living with you and you can't put other family members whether it's humans or other pets at risk.

Thankyou very much sodapop and I will surely let everybody know how I do - I'm nervous but I tried my very best which is all you can ask for really. It is a shame indeed, but it is for her best interest really as we just were not the family for her.

I know what you mean. We have to watch my 3 year old goddaughter with our dogs, especially Pepper & Cody, because she doesn't realise that they're not as tolerant as her pug and Shar Pei. No matter how many times we tell her, we sometimes still have to pull her away from them before they snap at her. Cody has got hold of her arm a couple of times - not hard, and not enough to break skin - so we can't take any unnecessary risks with him. But he's a JRT, so wouldn't do quite as much damage as a husky if anything were to happen. It's such a shame that people don't think about the breed they're getting. But I suppose that's nothing new is it?

Yes well we never leave our dogs unsupervised with her and she knows not touch them while they're eating something real tasty like a pigs ear ow whatever but she knows that Charlie Boy can sometimes be snappy with her whereas Roman and the Shih Tzus are always chilled out with her. And well, we all know that there is a huge problem in the breed researching in the world Such a bloody shame it is.
