Thanks lotsofcats, Penny does drink plenty of water, she has much more than our other cats though with Roman & Osiris being more outdoors we don't know how much they drink elsewhere. I tried some water on her kibble this morning - she didn't touch it!!!! How much water did you put on Kiba-Khan's kibble? I only put just enough to wet the kibble and with a bit of water in the dish as well. How about trying Andrena's 'fishy water' that she used to give to Mollie - not sure if it was tuna flavoured water? It worked for Mollie.
I never see my lot drink very much - I put a large bowl of water in the cat pen outside but I've never seen it even half empty.

I hope that Penny continues to eat more and that the injection helps.

Thanks lotsofcats, I'm currently adding 2 or 3 teaspoons of water in her moist, currently 1/2 a pouch of Felix sauce sensations & 1/2 teaspoons of water to her kibble (only 15g kibble of it at each meal) is just enought to moisted the kibble without making it stick together. I remember Andrena's fishy water, to be honest Penny is drinking plenty from the water fountains so don't need to encourage that although oddly today she hasn't been, I think its almost too warm for her to move. Currently she's sprawled half out of her basket, almost as if her front half has slithered over the edge - its weird. Of course the minute I try to take a photo she gets up to see me!!!!!

Sorry to hear about spider Penny is having her ups & downs, think it depends if she likes the particular food, which varies from day to day! She is eating the gravy & jelly but tending to leave the meat also not sure she's too keen on water on her kibble but she seems to be happy & has been outside wandering the neighbourhood - much to my horror when she decided to visit the one with another feisty ginger cat & some dogs. She managed to get on to an old bin of some sort & then on to the fence panel diving them from the next house - a definite wobble there, walked along it & U-turned back - more wobble (my heart in my mouth as I couldn't quite reach her) Eventually I managed to get to her as she, very carefully, jumped down on to the bin again. Walked her back up the close put her own & what did she do run off into another neighbours back garden!!! Eventually reappearing only to be chased by Osiris!! You wouldn't have believed she was suffering with arthritis with that turn of speed. though think she's feeling it tonight. Back to the vets tomorrow evening for another weight & hydration check & a last discussion with the vet (his last day) on the way forward. Will have to see one of the others in the future, not that that's a problem just will miss the continuity. When I got some more ACE inhibitors on Thursday the vet told me she's only on half the max. dose of the Laurabolin so there is room for manoeuvre there as well. As she can't have the Metacam I might see about putting her back on the Nutraquin but as that's in her food & not sue if that's why she stopped eating it I'm not sure. If its OK to give then may try it. Anything to help her be more comfortable.

Thanks scallywag, I'll have a look at that, Roman takes the Nutraquin Ok - mixed in the jelly in his moist food - as did Penny originally for many years but with her reduced eating she wasn't getting the benefit so we stopped it for her.

We saw the head vet today as he'll be taking over Penny's care as the other vet we were seeing left our practice last Monday for his first own practice (taking over an existing one).
the head vet looked at her last blood results & said she was showing one type of kidney problem (uremic?) but not both (?) - not sure I got this the right way round as I can't remember it all after what followed. He then listened to her heart & felt her over then said he thought he could just feel a small goitre on the left of her neck, which could indicate that she has hyperthyroidism. So we're to go back in 3 weeks (31st) & in the mean time Penny is going to become a drug addict - if we can get them in her that is!
Felimazole tablets (non-crushable) 1 twice a day. Something else which is a powder to be sprinkled on her food begins with an A I think but the vets were out (ordered but wasn't in the delivery) we're going to have to pick it up on Monday. As well as the Benazecare 1/2 once a day which she is already on
Oh & 1 75mg aspirin every other day to help her arthritis pain & also any potential blood clots that might come from the thyroid but is crushable in food.
Unfortunately I'm away from tomorrow until late Tuesday ( a close friend's mum funeral down south) so Penny & the others will be in my OH's hands, so we're going to continue with the ACE inhibitor she was already on & start the new meds when I get back so there will 2 of us to give them to her if we can't hide them in food.
I've ordered some Pill Pockets from Amazon so they'll be here when I get back which might help not cheap & I've never used them before but anything that will help us & her be less stressed with the medicine taking.

Will do cazypops. The daft thing is that of all the visible signs of hyperthyroidism:- increased urination increased thirst a greasy coat spiky fur vomiting hoarseness restlessness howling (especially at night) a fast heart rate scratching a lot and pulling out fur & the not so visible sometimes a heart murmur high blood pressure its only the increased drinking & urinating she's got & that matches with kidney problems. Mind you she does get a bit raucous at imaginary things but then she always has done. Her coat is still lovely smooth & glossy & she only is sick with furballs - again a long term habit! She's definitely not restless although she is occasionally wandering outside a bit more.

Thank you cia & chantel. We've got the powders its Ipakitine a phosphorous binder so much for it starting with an A!!! I also ordered some Greenies Pill Pockets from Amazon & they've arrived - gave Penny one this evening (no pill) & she seemed to like it so well try her with one empty & one pilled tomorrow & hope she takes them. If so I'll order more - not cheap & only 45 in a packet but she's worth it if it gets her the tablets with no stress.

We've got the powders its Ipakitine a phosphorous binder so much for it starting with an A!!! Have you tried her with the Hills K/D food, which is very low in phosphorous ? Sam has that, and so far, she has not required a phosphorous binder. Since being on the diet, her weight and blood results have stabilised.
