So after a few days do hope and despair we finally had to let gizzy go and have her put to sleep. The vet at the royal vet collage in potters bar was fab. But today she wasn't herself so he called me and we went straight there. I could see she wasn't happy. So in the end the decision was easier than it might have been. The vet had already catheterised her and it was long enough that I could hold her and he, in his words, didn't have to interfere with her.
So she went to sleep with me holding her.
So goodbye gizzy. You brought such joy I'm just sad it had to end.

Oh Gillian, so sorry to read this, leaking eyes now, never easy to do the kindest thing for your pet. Run free little Gizzy, go play, out of pain now and young again

gillian; It always chills me to hear of anyone losing an adored pet, as I was in pieces after each one I have had to say a final goodbye to.It never gets any easier and no words can ease that awful pain. But I believe that letting them go is the last kindness we can do for them.

So sad for you Gillian. It is hard to make the decision to let your cat go but you were very brave and did the right thing. I'm glad you were able to have a last cuddle with Gizzy. We are all thinking of you - let us know how you are coping.

My deepest sympathies Gillian. We had to have our poor lad PTS back in January, so I do know how you feel. Gizzy will be over the Rainbow Bridge playing with my Lucky and all those who crossed before them. R.I.P. Gizzy-run free

Thanks all. Tbh I am feeling guilty that I'm not more upset! I guess the time she spent in hospital and the honesty of the vet prepared me more than I realised. She'll always be missed.

She will always be missed-but never, ever forgotten. It's not even six months since Lucky passed on and I still think of him every day. I am sure you will too.
