There isn't a dog training test, but you have to have a certificate to show you've studied dog training/done a sort of internship thing with a dog training school. Easy enough to get really, I could do an online dog training course and I'd have one. As far as I know, he's never actually studied dog training as such.
Saying that, I'm not sure its rally enforced here, I know of a few dog trainers without any actual qualifications (but who go to dog training conferences and things).
I don't think tests for trainers would be great as it would get outdated fairly quick and I think "tests" wouldn't necessarily always show how good (or bad) a trainer actually is.

I am not surprised that Cesar failed the assessment! I wouldn't let him clean our lavatory! How typically German to have tests/assessments for dog training: I like it! I reckon it would be a good idea to require dog trainers to be assessed/tested over here. At present any imbecile can call themselves dog trainers and set up in business, which is wrong! There must be many innocent (i.e. lacking knowledge/experience of trainers) dog owners who misguidedly have faith in so-called trainers who have considerable potential for completely messing dogs up - and some of these are very high profile (and very wealthy!!!!) 'trainers' like Jan Fennell, not just some back-street odd-bod!

I think it's a joke anyone can call themselves a trainer and can do an online course and be accredited but but doing a test it starts the debate.....what training methods are correct
