We have another little girl who has come into our care last night. Her name is Poppy and she is approx. 18 months old. She is about 6 weeks pregnant and sadly this is her second litter Apparently (according to the lady who got in touch with us to get her help) this little girls owner was willing to pass her off to just anyone (after speaking to the owner this did appear to be the case) whilst pregnant for them to deal with and get her kittens homes when they were born. She was a "free to good home" pet and the lady was quite concerned for the cats welfare and safety, she also told us that if it werent for the fact this wee girl needed to be rehomed she would no doubt be left to have other litters in the future. We immediately got in touch with the owner who was reluctant and a little evasive at first to hand her over to us, however, she is now safe in our care. There will be plenty of updates and teeny tiny kitties to share photos of ^_^

Oh bless her! she looks to be in good condition. Thank goodness you have her now and she will have her kittens safely and then she can be spayed and found a forever home where someone will love her.

We have now got another wee girl in care with her 4 kittens. A woman had contacted us to say the wee girl was in her back garden and had just given birth to kittens. Went down to the area and it turns out the lady had been keeping the neighbours dog away from them! So we got them into care and will now search for her owner and re-home if owners are not found. We have named the mum Shelby dont know the sex of the 4 wee ones yet, but will pick names for them as soon as we know. Here is mum cat, she truly is a gorgeous wee soul Her babies are 2 grey and white ones and 2 all grey ones.

Oh bless them, how lucky they and their kittens are you now have them.
I hope when the time comes you can find them all loving homes to go to.
Before rehoming the kittens, will they be spayed/neutered first?

Glad the woman was able to keep the dog from the family & called you. Hope the owners can be found & take her & the kittens back but if not they are safe & well looked after. If necessary I'm sure they will be successfully rehomed.

We dont have an early spay/neuter vet near where we are so we will need to have an in depth discussion about this with our vet. If not then I will have the new owners sign a contract that states when the cat is old enough, they will pay for half of the neutering/spaying costs and the other half will be met by us. This way I can ensure they are done. The mother cat is not feeding her kittens and is also not producing enough milk. It appears the kittens were handled far too much by the lady who found them and her 5 year old daughter, so the mother cat is now reluctant to feed them. So I think it may be a case of hand rearing the little one. On a brighter note, they have been nicknamed "Jellybeans" for now as we do not know their sex.

That means a lot of work for you and busy nights. A pity you cannot trust people enough to let them pay for the spaying without helping them out. Good luck. They look lovely.

I really wish I could trust them too It is quite sad that we cant trust them, but we need to ensure the safety of the kittens. That is our top priority. A lot of people just dont bother neutering because of the costs...which could cause more problems for them as it leaves their cats open to all sorts of infections or cancers that are significantly reduced after spaying/neutering.

It's a shame it looks like you'll have to hand rear them. What a pity that Poppy can't help when she has her own litter.

Sorry to hear that Shelby is not interested in her kittens but if she's not producing milk then you can perhaps understand it. Hope that the kittens do well with hand-rearing. Its a lot of work for you/your fosterers
