I think saying "plants" is a bit misleading. Morandi LOVES vegetables such as carrots and sat patently next to my baby cousin waiting for him to finish his dinner one day to get to the stuff. If we throw any uneaten potatoes out for birds he is the first at them, even if they are still hot. Maybe it would be better to say it is advisable not to feed to many vegetables to cats as they may get a lack of meat protein which is needed seeing as cats are mainly carnivores. By yeast dough do you mean unbaked as it would expand as the yeast feed on glucose that may be present in the cats stomach? If it is for that reason they surely the acid in the cats stomach(which I believe is more acidic than ours which has a pH of 2) would denature (kill) the enzymes in the yeast which cause the dough to expand, resulting in the dough not expanding. Sorry for the babble, I like micro-biology And besides anyone who bakes bread, and the likes of me who don't, know that yeast dough has to be covered for the dough to rise. Baking nerd too ! Chemicals is a bit off too. According to google a chemical is "A compound or substance that has been purified or prepared, esp. artificially." So then aren't most ingredients in commercial pet food chemicals, all of those additives and e-numbers (many of which are carcinogens unfortunately) I like chemistry too ! BorderTerrier I am not trying to put you down or anything and I think this thread is a great idea but these are some of the confusions I had with it. I think your source is a bit iffy too, I looked at pet.md before and it said that RAW MEAT shouldn't ever be fed to cats!!! Their reason was bacteria such as salmonella but that can be controlled with safe handling and basic hygiene, Charlie hunts mice and rats for god sake !! Just my two cents, very long two cents !!

This is a case of being aware of these things and applying common sense. Also, I believe daffodils are a no no too but I can honestly say I have never, (and I have daffs in the garden) seen any cat, mine or anyone else's try to eat them! The cats know better.
Chemicals - well on the whole as humans we wouldn't think they would do us too much good; I'm thinking cleaning chemicals etc - esp any that go cloudy in water.
We all need to be aware and more importantly have worked out an action plan if we suspect our cat/s have ingested something they shouldn't have. Perhaps also we need to be aware of the signs. I stick to the Feline Advisory Bureau for information.
This is a big part of our responsibility as cat owners; to educate ourselves and know what to do. Sadly there are somethings you can't plan for; in my case it was Tia ingesting antifreeze.
