One of my cats is over grooming and has a bald undercarriage, now I've just seen that under her tail is now bald. Has anybody got some tip as to how to get her to stop I could try before having to resort to taking her to the vets? I think the cause is stress.

Over grooming is a symptom of stress. Do you know what is causing it? If so is there anything that can be done to reduce the stress levels? Trying to solve the cause of the stress is the probably the best way to get her to stop. I appreciate that its not always easy to get a cat to the vet & there are the costs involved, however I would still be inclined to take her to the vets to ensure that there is nothing else that is causing the bald patches.
There are calming products which are available without a vet's prescription but I would always check with a vet before using them. Some of our members are fans of Bach Rescue Remedies but I wouldn't know where to start.
I hope we can come up with the right solution for you.

Thanks tonib, I think it's the puppy that is stressing her, she's always been a bit of a stress head for as long as I've had her, or should I say since she decided to move in with me. Had her at the vets last year as she had scabs on her back which turned out to be feline eczema caused by stress and she's has that too again. She's a funny little thing, if the pup goes near her she'll clout him, if he ignores her she'll go and clout him on the bum so he chases her anyway, and vise versa. Was thinking of trying feliway to see if that helps first, just wondered of anyone had any other ideas I could try too.

Feliway has helped us with a multi-cat household, also I was recommended Pet Remedy, its worked for some. Ive got both plugged in at different places in the house. Do seem to notice a difference when they run out or the actual diffuser has been used with too many refills.

Thanks toni, do you have to get it from the vets or can I find them online somewhere?

Thanks, I'll give them a try. Found in on the site I use petmeds.com and it's £20.60 will see if it's cheaper on this site. Wow! it is cheaper, I'll definitely be getting it from them when I get paid. Thanks.
