hi everyone. I'm hoping someone out there can give me some advice.
I have 2 cats, both nearly 6 months old now. All jabs, worming, fleas and chips done etc. litter trays are positioned around the kitchen, 3 in total now due to this!
Cat 1 does not have any popping issues from what I see. He goes in the litter tray and although he doesn't cover it up, he goes where he is suppose to go.
Cat 2 seems to have issues. He scrapes the edge of the kitchen before he wants to poop and then proceeds to go. Intervention takes place and he then goes in the box. Overnight he can go multiple times (shut in kitchen with cat 1). He can go in the box as he used to do it. He also can poop on the kitchen floor during the day so it's not just over night.
Is there anything I can do to stop this. I have feliiway. Have 3 little trays in kitchen for overnight and through out the day. Nothing seems to be working. It takes at least 20 mins out of my morning and evening.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does the second cat always go to the same place in the kitchen? Perhaps try putting a litter tray there....even if only for a few days until cat is using it then gradually move it (over a few days) to a preferred spot. What type of litter do you use? Some litters are quite hard on a cat's sensitive paws and they prefer something either smoother or with smaller grains. I've been fostering oldies for a few years and have found World's Best to be the one that suits everyone as it's so fine - not sore on old toes and pads and it's very fine and encourages cats to dig in it Plus, it clumps into a ball around any pee so there's very little waste and one bag lasts me a couple of months easily. Perhaps try adding another litter tray somewhere else in your home. Some cats are very private when it comes to their toilet and are easily spooked in what is a vulnerable place (imagine how you would feel if you were on the loo and kept having other humans peering in at you etc ) so need to feel safe. My girls have their trays in the kitchen below a large counter and I put a curtain across the front so they have the privacy to poop in peace Just reading your original post again: are both boys neutered? Perhaps, if not, one could be 'bossing' the other and making him feel insecure about using the trays. They're still pretty young so perhaps the type of litter is an issue too. I wouldn't worry about the cat not burying his poop - some do that. How often do you clean the trays? I give my trays a quick scoop-out when I get up in the morning and check a few times during the day if I'm passing and again before I go to bed (as well as soon as they've finished if I hear them using the trays). Once/twice a week I'll give them a good boil wash and fill them nice and deep with fresh litter. Some cats are very particular about using a tray that 'has something in it' as it were I'll often be watching the tv series My Cat From Hell with Jackson Galaxy and be gobsmacked at some of the folk wondering why their cat is spraying and toileting in the house yet cannot make the connection between the full litter tray which resembles a toad-in-the-hole with turds poking out everywhere Cats are very particular at times with their toileting habits but an awful lot can be easily sorted so I'm sure your boy will soon suss out what you want Let us know how it goes.

Sorry for the short reply, on my phone. Cat2 just varies around the kitchen at night. Both have been neutered. Problems have arisen since then. Cat 2 was going before in the tray. Maybe a litter change is required again. Hmmmm. The trays are deep too. When I do have to clean the 2/3 of trays may not have been used.
Last night before I went to bed I saw a poo. All in a space of 5 mins.
My wife said today cat 2 had to be picked up and put in tray. Still he got out and refused and poo came out anyway.
