We recently replaced our wooden door with a uPVC one, so I used the opportunity to have a SureFlap cat flap installed. I am now regretting not being more thorough in my research beforehand. Kitt:e is a small, elderly cat with arthritis which is getting progressively worse. The tunnel is considerably deeper (from Kitt:e's perspective anyway) and the door heavier than his previous Staywell cat flap. Although he is less keen to venture outdoors these days, I am desperate to swap out the SureFlap with something more manageable for him. However, the flap hole dimensions do not seem to be compatible with any other flap. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks ;o)

@spparky, We have the Sureflap Microchip Pet door now which was different in dimensions to the old Staywell one we had but luckily it was the larger so the hole was just re-adjusted. I thought the Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap (& hence probably most of their flaps) is smaller than the Staywell & if that applies to any flaps you'd prefer instead of the one you've got then you should just be able to re-size the hole. When we had our first catflap installed in our UPVC door the fitter replaced the square panel into which the catflap was installed but that depends on the style of the door, our other door (front) doesn't have that design. It wasn't expensive so might be an option. We kept the plain panel so could always replace it if we ever sold the house. If you've still got your Staywell flap (or a new one) then you could probably fit it in a new panel if you can't find one to fit the existing panel. Also our Penny is 15 & arthritic & like your cat doesn't go out as much but she does manage the Sureflap Microchip Pet Door when she wants. I did find that putting a catflap in a UPVC door tends to put the door higher than is possibly comfortable for a small cat as a lot of the designs have a panel with surround which means that the flap has to go in the panel rather than lower down as the surround is not big enough. Hope you can get a solution for you & your cat.
