Recently Kai Ruki has been dribbling and the side of his mouth is dirty. I have been wiping it and he doesn't seem to be in pain. I assumed it was just from his odd habit of licking the mesh in the cat pen. Then I noticed that he wasn't eating any biscuits, only wet food. Last night he wanted to sit on my lap a lot so I had a good look at him and noticed that one side of his jaw is swollen and he doesn't look well around his eyes. So I've just made an appointment for him this evening after I get home from work. I could have taken him tomorrow with Kali when she goes for her annual check-up but I'd rather go sooner just in case he has an abscess.

Kai Ruki had an antibiotic injection and 2 different sorts of antibiotic tablets. The vet poked and prodded him, looked in his mouth and then felt the lump and went "Oh" - a very ominous "oh". He thinks it's either an infection that has got down inside or a tumour. I have to take Kai Ruki to the other surgery on Monday morning for an x-ray. The vet will look at him first and if he feels Kai Ruki has improved then he will assume it is an infection - fingers crossed that's all it is.
I didn't want to take Kali with him to the vets at the same time as Kai Ruki is a very stressful cat and I didn't want to upset him. So back with Kali in the morning.

(((HUGS))) Hope everything clears up with the AB's over the weekend TBH my first thought was that it sounded like a sore tooth which has infected the gum so hopefully it IS just that

Kai Ruki has been taking his medication mixed in his food really well, I thought he wouldn't eat all of the food. He is eating slowly but getting through it. I offered him some Whiskas treats this evening and he ate them so I think he is feeling a bit better.
