Haha I always seem to be dealing with cat vomit. Anyway tonight Mieze has been vomiting a lot and actually started miaowing after a while at Rosa and myself as though she was in a lot of discomfort from it. I wasn't sure how to help her, but as she has been so sick and seemed to be making it worse by running away from Rosa and trying to jump on things, I put her in Rosas big dog cage with some more food, water and one of her favourite boxes with a cushion in it.
I'm just gonna keep her in the box for a few hours and hopefully she will be fine after this feed. If she's not vomited in that time then perhaps she was just extra hungry for some reason.
The things is, we recently got some nice cat grass and Mieze has been eating it every day! I know that they eat it to help them to vomit (Possibly), but I have seen her eating plants before (She particularly likes tomato plant leaves) and I think she just enjoys eating it to be honest. She had been sick a little more often recently, but it's all just been stomach acid, sometimes with a bit of grass in it. Is cat grass bad for them? Or is it worth keeping? I mean it is either the direct cause of her vomiting, or she is using it to help with some other problem.
Anyway if cat grass is a no-no, is there any other plant I can have thats okay for her to nibble? She seems to really enjoy eating some plants haha!

I haven't heard of cat grass being bad for cats smilesbetter, our Penny uses it regularly even those that go out occasionally have a nibble. Penny is our hairball regurgitator & we often know a hairball is coming if we get a patch of grass on the floor. I'd be inclined to remove the cat grass & see if Mieze is better & then if she is let her have it again & see if she is still sick as it could just be coincidence she is better. At least that way you would know one way or the other. Hope the cage rest does her some good.

It's not a hairball or anything is it? I've never known cat grass to have that sort of effect....well not with my yobbos anyway I usually get a packet of seed and get three sowings out of it. Lily especially loves munching on it To be honest the only time I get any vomiting *touch wood* is when Chilli gollops her biscuits down then tips it all back up

Hey there, thanks for the replies, Mieze has been fine today so it was maybe a one off, just made me wonder if the cat grass had anything to do with it as she is constantly munching on the stuff. She didn't seem to be having a hairball and I've not seen one since. She perhaps stole some bread again. Today its Carlotta who has been vomiting. Haha, it's a never ending cycle here! Hopefully the new cat food will stop the vomiting when we eventually get it.

My lot have been bringing up hairballs quite a lot recently so I pick grass for them to eat. 5 of my cats are quite long haired and they now have their summer coats - Blackberry and Willow look very kitten-like without their fluffy manes.
smilesbetter - aren't tomatoes bad for cats? I'll have to check the list, if so, then tomato leaves wouldn't be good for Mieze to eat. I hope she is better soon.

I'm not sure about tomatoes, I put a cat net around the plants when she took to eating them though, this was last year. They're outside now and she never goes near them. She didn't ever seem to have a problem with them though. I don't think it was a hairball but then again she does sometimes get them so perhaps you guys are right and she's just not got it out yet (or Rosa has scoffed it). I've never seen Carlotta have one, but she only has one later of fur and hardly moults at all.

Glad to hear Mieze is fine now, sorry to read Carlotta is now giving you cleaning problems.
It does seem to be hairball season by the sound of lotsofcats post as Osiris also was sounding like he'd got whooping cough earlier this evening as well as his body heaving, but with no result. Saw him eating grass earlier so maybe one on the cards

I dont think cat grass is bad, my little tortie used to eat it on occasion...although she enjoyed smelling and rolling in it more lol
Is it maybe a vomiting bug? Especially since one has had it and now the other has come down with it also. My friend had gone through something very similar with her 4 cats and they each came down with it twice in 2 weeks. They were being sick and crying for 24-48 hours and then after that they were fine.

We are waiting to get the Bozita cat food, she seems to have issues with every other cat food there is. Carlotta's is quite different to Mieze's vomit, Carlotta tends to spew up completely un digested food hours after she has eaten (like ten+ hours after eating) whereas Mieze's the other day was all stomach acid or something by the looks of it, she didn't spew up any actual food. Mieze is more of a normal cat though, it was just the vomiting sometimes had cat grass mixed in with it and she really scoffs the stuff. It must not have been that though as she's still been eating loads of it every day and not been sick since. I suspect she must have stolen something she shouldn't have to eat as I can't think what else caused the sickness. I've never seen a cat crying out in distress from vomiting though so it was very hard to see.
