Well, every time one is posted I'm just going to keep saying... USE A THERMOSTAT!!! How can you recommend using a 6ft viv putting EVERY beardie owner off, a 4ft is the minimum they should be in when an adult, no they shouldn't be in a fish tank in the viv, they have no concept of glass if that's to be each wall it is contained within and will become stressed and panicked. Of course the bigger the better that's great you're recommending that... But it isn't a legal requirement, neither is using a thermostat, but this should definitely be recommended. It is both dangerous, irresponsible and cruel. Thanks

Am I wrong in thinking that Beardies should in fact be getting 12-14 hours of light a day not 8-12.... Going down to 12 hours to mimic the colder seasons and gradually increasing up to 14 hours to mimic the hotter seasons?? If you were to mimic brumation you would only then provide the 10 hours of light each day...
Also you mention 'a suitable type of bedding', yet the beardie in the video is on wood chip which I consider highly unsuitable.
It would have been nice to also see a mention about their diet.

I would say 12-14 is about right for beardies, as you say going down to 8-12 to offer brumation. Wood chip in my opinion is perfectly fine for beardies, in fact most beardies grab a few pieces by accident and quite easily spit them out. In my opinion, I would prefer it to sand, people use the cheaper calci-sand which isn't as good as the better quality stuff in terms of causing impaction. Personally it seems the problem with impaction mostly is when you swap substrates, if a baby is used to being on wood chip - I wouldn't change to sand. If it was used to sand, i wouldn't change to wood chip. Am I wrong in thinking that Beardies should in fact be getting 12-14 hours of light a day not 8-12.... My friend used to keep hers on the stuff until he actually swallowed a piece, became impacted, had to go to the vet for treatment to help flush it out which in the process caused a prolapse I keep my beardie on carpet and always advise others to do the same, especially if they feed their lizard inside the viv. It's cheap, easy to clean and worry-free.

Yeh carpet is a good idea, we used kitchen towel mostly. People are all about 'oh but I want my viv to look nice in the living room' Well personally I'd rather my animal survive than the viv look pretty haha!
