I have a 9 month old Parsons Russell dog, and I don't know if I'm being over anxious but he keeps getting a small amount of discharge from his winky. Is this normal or should I get him checked out? Only been used to having bitches in the past, and don't want to take him to the vets and look an idiot.

A couple of questions, is he neutered(guessing not at his age)? What colour is it? Does it smell? Does he lick it excessively/seem bothered by it? It may be 'smegma', which is normal(read that in one of my many dog health books). I would say a visit to the vet is the best thing, just to be sure. I don't think you'd look like an idiot, I think it's more important to have a healthy pup.

Its normal, but if it smells and is a thick consistency then it could be an infection that needs the vets attention.
If you are worried then speak to your vet.

Hi no he's not been neutered. As he's such a lovely looking dog and a great temperament, (not that We.re bias) we're not sure yet weather to stud him out. That's why we weren't sure if it was natural as he's just discovered little girl dogs.

No it doesn't smell, just a creamy colour. If it doesn't clear up I'll take him to the vets just to be sure. Thanks for the help. :-)

It is perfectly normal for male dogs to have discharge from his penis, the only thing to watch is a change in consistency, colour, odour or if your dog is paying particular attention to it i.e. licking excessively or is showing pain if touched then it is a call to the vets.
Boys are messy creatures because you will need to look at your walls as when boy dogs shake some of that discharge comes off and and it has to go somewhere LOL

Everyone beat me to it but yeah a very normal thing. Unless it changes colour or starts to smell it's fine. Rubyroo11 Now I know what that weird wall stain is?!? HaHaHa!!!

I would have some very good advice for this, but I don't want to repeat others so I will just say yes its pretty normal, just keep an eye on the colour and smell of it. If it doesn't bother you to look a tad fussy cazypops, I'd maybe check with the vet just be be COMPLETELY AND POSITIVELY sure about it! Rubyroo11 - how lovly

Thanks BorderTerrier, I will keep a close eye on it. I doesn't smell, my other half had a sniff of it (rather him than me ha ha) and he's not worrying it and over licking. By the way I mean Jasper not the other half lol.
