Need to get this thread up asap so cutting a long story short.
Found a pigeon or dove that can't fly, he's currently in Dobby's old cage, a plastic hamster cage with bars at the top. Can we feed him some sunflower seeds to see if he'll eat them? He's got a bowl of water.
We phoned RSPCA all we got was a recorded message telling us to take it to the vets - it's not open now. So if he makes it through the night my mum will try and get him to the vets in the morning.
Any help?

Checked online, have dropped about 6 seeds in to see if he eats them. Bird didn't panic when I approached just eyed me up.
We are doing everything we can, forgot to add before - the bird has no obvious injuries like cuts or anything.

The pigeons that come to our garden, eat wild bird food mix (& spill it everywhere!). That does contain some sunflower seeds. I would suggest water is the most critical requirement, which you are already providing Good luck

I agree with tonib. Sunflower seeds are usually a hit on my bird table, all sorts of birds like pigeons, black birds, robins, ECT. like them. Does he look healthy?

The pigeons we get also eat bread. Does it have a ring on? Maybe you could try getting in contact with your local pigeon fanciers club.

Thanks for the replies guys He went to the vets yesterday as he spent the whole day walking round my garden meaning I couldn't let Frankie outside (I took Jess out on a lead). They said if he has a broken wing they'll put him down and if he doesn't I don't know what they are going to do to him. It's so sad, I hope he is ok He was quite a friendly birdy.

I have no idea BT They took him and haven't contacted us since, they didn't mention calling us when my mum took him. I guess it's because he's not our pet. I wish I knew

CurlyCub you should try calling them to out your mind at rest. Hope he's okay! Also congrats for doing the right thing and not just leaving him out there.

Only just had time to log on here, I don't think they'll give us any info now as it's probably too late to ask
