Osiris will be going back to the vets as soon as I can get him an appointment tomorrow. He's been spending the day on the bed & when he went out after his tea he sat around at the back & then we went to the garage to top up one of the dried cat food containers, he joined us so must have come over the gate. He wandered around the garage investigating up on things & up on boxes before going out again. When we finished Roman had come round & wanted fuss so gave him some & then to be fair stroked Osiris along his back & got a big hiss for my pains & he moved away. I tried again & it definitely was a reaction to the stroke & not to having Roman's scent on me.
He then wandered away & I realised he was lame. He did lift the same hind paw (his left) as before a few times but then I realised he was rolling his hips so not just limping, so not sure if he's got an injury higher up or even a hip/back problem. So managed to get him in again & he's shut in the "isolation ward" again. I'll remove food around 10 pm & water at 8 a.m. just on case he needs an x-ray & hence an anaesthetic. Hope I can get an early appointment - should be able to,
I wonder if its the same problem & the Metacam masked it - he finished that on Friday evening.

Got an appointment at 9:35 this morning. Bearing in mind that I had wondered if he'd broken anything when he last went although the vet didn't think so Osiris was starved overnight (in fact longer as he didn't eat much of his tea) & water removed at 8 a.m. in case he needed an x-ray or other anaesthetic needed treatment. He limped first thing this morning but seemed slightly easier but still there when I put him in the carrier. He travelled fine, bar being a bit sweaty. Behaved impeccably at the vets - no sign of any reaction to prods, pulls, manipulations, back massages, temperature taking etc. even walked OK - albeit a little close to the ground. Jumped back up on to the vets table a couple of times when put on the floor for the vet to see how he limped. In other words no sign of any problem! Although at the end his tail was twitching slightly, but at one point he even had a rumbling purr! I think this cat has a reaction to vets - it calms him & makes him determined not to show any sign of injury! However the vet did say that his lymph gland seemed enlarged but it was on his right leg as well! We had a good 20 minute consultation I would say - probably not popular with the following clients who would have been delayed Back on the antibiotics & Metacam & we're to go back on Friday 9:25 & if no change they may x-ray. This really does seem like history repeating itself 2 years on except it was Roman last time. Just hope he doesn't land up on cage rest as well - he would be a real nightmare patient! He thanks everyone for their concern & well wishes, as do I

tonib haha I know the feeling with cats suddenly acting completely fine when going to the vets! You'll have to film him limping next time (although if they're going to X-ray anyway then I suppose not) just incase. Hope the current treatment helps although if he has broken anything then I do hope he gets the X-ray to find out exactly what's happened. Couldn't the treatment kinda mask the symptoms rather than fixing them (you'd mentioned a suspicion if that in your first post)?

It's a good question smilesbetter. The one thing the treatment will do (& that is one of the intentions) is to see if his lymph glands go down & also if its both legs. If they don't then the suspicion is that his are normally slightly enlarged, hence a mis-leading factor. Its possible that he just jarred himself having come over a 6 foot gate on to paving slabs but that's his normal route & we've not noticed any problem before. I haven't see any sign of that bad limp since first thing Monday morning but I'll keep an eye on it - he's not moving much as he's being kept in our dining-room & conservatory combination, so is spending most of his time snoozing - mind you he does that when he's outside as well! He's not a great playful cat - a very short attention span.
