I Haven't seen Tay the stray for 8 days. The food was still being eaten and then for 3 days running it was untouched. I still put some out last night and it went so perhaps he's returned from a wander about. Can't make him out at all. I spoke to the woman down the lane last week and she hadn't seen him at all since the first time I spoke to her.

It was nice to see him and know that he is okay. He's looking much cleaner again. Perhaps he went back to the home he had in August last year and they kept him in for a few days. I wish he could talk!

Perhaps he went back to the home he had in August last year and they kept him in for a few days. I wish he could talk! If it wasn't for Covid I'd wonder if his owners had gone away and left him to fend for himself, and now they are back. It is possible his owners went away and thought he could fend for himself. When he first appeared as a dirty and very hungry stray it was at the start of the first lockdown and I think that he had wandered off from his owners as he was a young (about 10 months)and un-neutered tom cat. I know someone took him in at the start of August as I didn't see him for at least 6 weeks. That was when I looked on the CCTV and spotted him at 2.30am coming up the garden path for the food I was still leaving out. I was relieved that it was him having it. When I finally saw him eating the food I went outside and noticed he was very clean and didn't smell like he used to - he'd obviously been neutered. Then a couple of months ago he was dirty and tatty again so since then I leave food out every night for him again.

It's unusual to see dirty cats well any I have seem to be clean he must be going through a tough time if he isn't taking time to clean however a steady place to get food is a big help to a fellow living out there it's like everything if hunger sets in they can't hunt and that's a circle in itself isn't it a pity he won't stay with u but some cats prefer out there as they say living his best life

It is a pity Tay won't stay with me but I know it's because of Kobi the dog. Tay likes all the cats, even Toffee but as soon as he hears a sound from the dog he is wary. He eats his food and never hangs around.

Kobi should be used to cats spider but he is afraid of Kiba-Khan and Toffee! Sometimes Toffee loves him and rubs up against him (much to his dismay) and other times, like yesterday, he goes for him. My neighbour has her daughter's dog Tizzy staying and she was out in the garden and could see Kobi so they had a go at each other through the fence. Toffee heard the commotion and came along and started to attack Kobi because he thinks he is protecting the cats! It wasn't even Kobi's fault! Kobi is part Patterdale Terrier and they are known for thinking cats are prey so it is hard to get him used to any new cats. 3 of the cats are older than him. It took about 6 months to get him used to Kali and eventually, her kittens. That is why when we first had Kali, she lived in the cats' shed with her kittens. When Blackberry and Willow were both very ill I took them inside the house and kept them in a dog crate and Kobi got used to them, thank goodness. I suspect Tay has had a bad experience with a dog and with people, he is very jumpy. Lovely that you got a home for one of the kittens.

I'm happy to say that Tay has turned up for food for 4 nights in a row at about 10.30pm each night. He looks so small now that he has his shorter summer coat. He hasn't changed at all, still aloof, still jumpy but STILL GORGEOUS.
