I was laying in bed when Avi came flying in, Mikila who was laying on my bed instantly got up and I heard her run and start growling. I guess Avi mustβve had a mouse and tried to bring it to me but Mikila got it. Gross

Ooo girls but it's there nature much and all as I dislike that aspect of cats they are born killers it's the wild bit they never left behind if moonbeam finds a spider before I get a chance to put him outside he doesn't play with things he just steps. On it and keeps going doesn't even stop to see if he killed it but if I say ahhhha he will sit and look at it if I'm fast enough I get it out if not he just can't help himself but then his breed was for keeping mice out of the grain stores and seems he still knows that job

There's nothing we can do about cats and their instincts, it's nature not nurture.

Toffee had a good fight in next door's garden yesterday morning. There's a newish tom cat about and Toffee doesn't like him at all. They both did the growing and singing and then flew at each other. I clapped my hands and the new tom cat ran out to the front of the garden followed by Toffee where they continued their scrap. When I clapped my hands again the tom cat jumped up on top of my neighbours hedge and over he went (there's a 5 feet drop the other side!). There was a pile of ginger and white fur on the lawn and when Toffee came into the house he'd lost his collar and looked rather dishevelled. I checked him over and he has a nasty scratch on the top of his head so I sprayed some Leucillin on it. He was upset and restless for the rest of the day. I hope he gave as good as he got.

Cats can be so territorial, just goes to show how lucky Tay is that toffee likes him.

Well, Tay's been visiting a bit more this week, Monday, Wednesday and last night, always just after 10.30pm. I hope he comes regularly so I can get him tamer before the winter. My sister in law (the one that put Tay on CPL Facebook) suggested that he may come from a house nearby which is a bit of a smallholding. Her son used to be friends with a boy from their and she said she used to give him cat food to take with him when he went there. The family has dogs which are all outside and bark a lot. When I first moved to the area they'd had dogs taken away by the RSPCA because of their condition and they were banned from owning dogs for a year. It does make sense if Tay is from their, there's no way Tay is an inside cat because he is so dirty and he stinks. He is not used to being smoothed and never purrs. He's not feral, but he's not far from it! Next time he comes in the daytime I will watch which direction he goes when he jumps down from my front wall. I won't be lurking around the smallholding, it's not a place to go alone and it's by itself. It's only a 2-3 minutes walk away. I think (and so does my sister in law) that the woman who said on Facebook that Tay was her parent's neighbour's cat has made a mistake. It's easy done as someone replied to the posting and said it looked like Flo's cat. Someone else replied and said Flo's cats were well cared for, not scruffy and dirty. Then Flo herself was on there and said she didn't live near where he was seen - see how easy it is to jump to conclusions? Anyhow, the CPL woman saw the posting saying it was the parent's neighbour's cat and then took the whole thing off Facebook! I'll have to buy one of those collars that you have to track your cats tonib.

Nice to know Tay is around again lotsofcats. I hope you can find out where he is supposed to live & isn't looked after. A tracker would be useful but Tay would have to keep a collar on & the "owners?" might take umbrage!

A tracker would be useful but Tay would have to keep a collar on & the "owners?" might take umbrage! Yes tonib I think the owners might take umbrage, I would! After seeing him Thursday night he didn't come until last night and he was very hungry. I left kibble out Friday and Saturday night. I think he ate it Friday as I could smell his 'thank you' present. Saturday night the kibble wasn't touched but it was very wet and windy out. When he'd eaten his food last night I sneaked after him to see which direction he went in and it was down the road along side the cars parked on the left. I would have through he'd have gone through the lane opposite which would get him to the back of Hanbury Road which leads to where the woman on Facebook said he's from. Down the road leads to the the rough place where my sister in law suggested he's from. If he is from there perhaps he will one day realise he wants to live with Toffee and Co. I hope he makes up his mind before winter comes.

I think I may try a paper collar one day when he is tame enough for me to put it on him. I'll just ask if he belongs to anyone and that he's been turning up at my place for food.

Love the pic of Moo (aptly named) spider. I love her markings. Lets hope she turns up regularly for a good feed. Good that Snow likes her.

Toffee was good and had 2 rats last week. But, Toffee was very naughty on Friday when he caught a wood pigeon, the feathers were everywhere. I never thought he would go for such a big bird.
