Got the girls on a different food now, and I can only get it online (can't remember the name of the company )! Ooh Roo what food are they on now? How are they doing? Vitalin, it's a muesli food, really strange when we first got it! It took a while for them to get used to eating it, but they seem to be doing so well on it! I know Jools wasn't really meant to have cereal, but all her coat has grown back and she has an amazing shine now. Strange!

As it may just be the wheat that effects her and the food might just be oat based?? Glad it's working for them.

I had read that yeasty dog shouldn't really have cereal in their diet as they can't process it properly but they've been on it a little while now and no adverse effects!

They do cereal free foods too if you ever need to find a new one. I guess it all depends on what is causing the yeast problem in the first place. I did read that if you can treat the yeast problem and keep it as bay it shouldn't be a problem.

From my limited understanding yeast feeds on sugars so theory is low carb diet (hence trying to keep away from cereals etc)for a yeasty dog. I say if its working Roo stick with it. Wish I had found something that would work for mine!! Depends on cause of the yeasty dog is, in my case its allergy behind the problem so obviously need the allergen to be controlled (or at least stop the itch) to then control the secondary yeast issue!

Yeah see this is what I read about if the yeast problem is diet related then sugar is a no no and you should eliminate potatoes, corn, wheat & rice, basically all the carbohydrates need to go away in a sugar-free diet. Not actually leaving very much?!? But I also read if the problem is seasonal and you can treat and keep on top of it, then the diet becomes less of a problem? Oh and Oops off topic!!

For some time now Bryn has been eating Applaws (dry) and Naturediet. I do not buy from any particular source but make a point of searching for sellers offering cut-price deals. There always seems to be one or two flogging Applaws cheap (it is ages since I paid more than £35 for a 12.5Kg bag: often less than that). It is a bit time consuming seeking the best deal but with Applaws having an RRP of around £54 it is well worth it! Naturediet does not seem to be available at such big discounts, but research and bulk-buying does save a lot of money.
Now it's all change! I have just ordered a big bag of Gentle Dog Food, having tried (well, Bryn tried!) samples. This is not available at a discounted price - though perhaps it might be in the future if more retailers stock it. I am impressed by the cold-pressing process which doesn't risk damaging the nutritional content like normal extrusion processes - and the ingredients are pretty good. (Which Dog Food? likes it a lot!!). We shall see how we get on!

I also get a few bits and pieces on Pet Supermarket, they have so much on there! Recently got Alfie a car harness from there and it was brilliant.

It's an interesting timing (for me) to see that a number use Pet Supermarket as today I was searching for some things for the cats. I have a number of suppliers I look through, including PS & MedicAnimal, PetMeds & BestPet. I knew that MedicAnimal & PetMeds where part of the same group as I kept finding things at identical prices so had checked a while back but knew that Pet Supermarket was based in Tyneside not London although it was a while since I last used it. I was intrigued when I found there was a similarity in prices again that made me check & I found that BestPet & PS were now all part of that same group & based in London not Tyneside!! Not every price was the same but most were!! That's not a problem but interesting so it might reduce the number I look through in future at least for the more medical items, don't know if they have completely identical goods though.

Riley has burns complete which i buy from our local pet store, i also feed the natural diet wet food to mix into his biscuits to make it a little tastier has he is a real fussy eater and if he dosen't fancy it he will just walk away, but he does seem to be enjoying the natural diet wet foods at the moment. which i buy from pets at home.
