Hello! Thought I'd give you all an update. Carlotta and I went to the vets yesterday, she confirmed that Carlotta's bloods were all perfect and that Carlotta is a very healthy cat, but thinks it's Carlotta's teeth that are causing the problem. Carlotta has a very bad tooth at the top back of her mouth, it's brown and the gum is bleeding a bit around it. She had a gum problem before (I'm the poor bugger that had to put the cream on it every day!) in the same place so I guess it's probably caused by the bad tooth. Anyway it's obviously painful for her to eat now, she takes ages to eat and the vet thinks that because the gum has an open wound that could be why she is sick so often (she has no allergies or other problems at all but sick almost every day now).
She was sick at least 6 times the night before the vet visit and at least 4 the morning of the vet visit. The vet gave us some drops to out in her food over the weekend and she's not to eat anything Sunday night before a tooth operation on Monday. I'm sure she will be delightful company Sunday night haha!
Anyway I'll let you all know how the op goes, it have full confidence anyway as she is only 6 and otherwise very healthy. I had my wisdom teeth out last year so I can sympathise with how she'll feel after the op haha, shame I can't give her nice soft Scottish chippy chips a couple days like I had haha! I don't know of the vet will give/prescribe her with anything after the op to eat or if her normal food will be okay, never had a cat have a tooth op before, mines have all been lucky! No idea what to expect!

Sounds like you have an explanation for Carlotta's reluctance to eat & its good to hear her blood test came back OK. Good to hear they're going to take it out.
I've had a cat (Osiris) have dental work done but it was only a clean & polish but, of course it was still done under a general anaesthetic. I've no idea whether a tooth out will mean any special food etc. but for a general we're always advised to give them access to water when they come home & later some bland food - chicken, fish, eggs. We've always cooked a chicken breast or fillet in the oven & cut some small pieces off. If they keep that down then they can have a bit more a bit later. If they don't just continue with the water until the next day (luckily we've not had the problem).
With 4 cats we have to remove all their food or keep the cat going to the hospital separate so we can control when they last had food (our vets say 11pm - although yesterday they dealt with Lexie eating a small amount overnight) & no water from 7 am. (your vet should have given you their rules - it seems to alter from vet to vet & potentially when they are operating) We find the isolation technique is the best then the others don't have a problem with food or being forced to be in (as ours have access to the outside), also easier to make sure we can get the cat into the carrier.
I would suggest contacting your vet before Tuesday in case you have to get any food in ready for when they come back unless it is easy for you to go shopping while they are being operated on, in which case don't forget to ask when you drop Carlotta off - its surprising how much you forget to ask on the day!!. If its special vet food then they should be able to provide on the day.
Hope all goes Ok for Carlotta & Meize doesn't object to her different smell (anaesthetic etc.) when she comes home.

Ahh she will be fine and feeling much better when she gets rid of the nasty tooth,no more pain. You will be surprised how quickly she recovers if cats are anything like dogs after an extraction,Skip had some teeth removed and was tucking into his food that evening, which certainly surprised us.

That's a good idea with the chicken, will try that. Seems a lot kinder on a sore mouth than the food she gets at the moment (which I hate!). There won't be a problem with feeding as they both generally eat all of their food in one go, no food is left, and they eat on each side of the door frame haha so it's easy to shut the door between them. We've been doing that today's to make sure Carlotta gets her drops in her food (can't remember if I mentioned that, she's to get drops in her food this weekend) and Mieze doesn't scoff it. My man is home now and the vets is near a fantastic pet food shop (they even sell frozen raw!) so one of us can easily get the food on Monday while she's in the op. The vet said to starve her the night before the op but the op is at 11 the next day I believe so I think if I give her her tea earlier on Sunday night than usual (maybe about 8) then it should all be fine. She's not to get water on the morning of the op either. I remember having to do both on the day of my wisdom tooth op and at least I knew why I wasn't allowed food and water! The poor cat is going to think I'm being evil since she'll obviously be aware of Mieze getting her breakfast haha! Yeah hopefully. Mieze will be okay with it, she's pretty laid back though, I'd be much more worried if it was the other way round as Carlotta has been really grumpy recently (possibly coz of the tooth and sickness!). It's amazing to think it's the same cat that so happily allowed Mieze to join our household a few months ago!

Haha I hope so migsy ! Carlotta does like her food so hopefully she'll be happy to eat, but she has been quite funny about eating sometimes recently, I think she's possibly associating it with the pain. I think the delicious smelling chicken will certainly help though!

Carlotta had her operation today, they removed one tooth and apparently the stem was completely broken and messed up. She is stoned off her face now wandering around like a lost kitten. Apparently we can't feed her until tomorrow or when she starts walking straight and looking less off her head. The pain medication runs out tomorrow so hopefully she doesn't get really sore then.
Mieze hasn't changed towards her due to her smelling or acting funny or anything, although she's not been chasing her around like normal either, but that could be coz Carlotta usually starts the chasing anyway, Mieze is usually only after a cuddle and gets attacked haha (playfully).
She is to return to the vets on Wednesday so they can look it over, but we don't have anything else to give her for pain, healing or anything now so it's not been too bad for us haha! It was a back top tooth so hopefully won't have any major effects for her and she'll still be able to eat fine, she eats nice soft wet food anyway although of course changing to raw. I'll hold off on that till it's healed just in case.

Glad to hear the op was successful, sounds like that tooth must have been quite painful. Cats are so good at hiding pain. Hope she recovers thoroughly from the anaesthetic quickly, Roman & Lexie came home with no sign of having had one but Osiris was still wobbly all evening but fine the next day.

Haha it's funny seeing them drugged up! Carlotta seems to be back to normal now, she was demanding food so we have her a teensie bit with her sickness medication which she happily scoffed, and now she's racing around with Mieze as usual as though nothing had happened! We'll give her her tea in small portions over the course of the evening tonight just in case but she seems fine! Just hope it doesn't get painful tomorrow when the pain thing wears off fully. Saying that I had my wisdoms out last year and the most painful part was my constantly hungry stomach as eating was very difficult, not so much in pain as kinda irritating and awkwardness haha!

I never cease to be amazed at how quickly our pets recover from operations compared to humans, even serious ones. Very pleased Carlotta is heaps better, the tooth must have been causing her quite a lot of pain.

Well she's just been sick for the first time since her vet visit last week, quite a bit. I'm not sure what the medication she is on is for (something to stop her being sick) as my vet is good but doesn't tell me anything! Changing vets after Carlotta's stuff is all over.
She doesn't appear to be in any pain anyway which is good! I've never had a pet have a tooth op before so I dunno what to expect haha!
She has a few specs of blood on her teeny pink nose still haha, but no longer on her cheek thankfully. She's pure white so it might have been hard to remove haha, I might have ended up with a permanently pink cat!
She's acting her usual self now zooming around with Mieze and was taking up half the bed last night as usual (I've got so used to cats in bed that when I stay somewhere without cats I still sleep curled up in one teensie corner haha)!

Awww bless her, well if shes being playful thats a good sign, was she sick straight after her meds ? Or completely random?

Sickness was random, she doesn't get fed that early. I usually get up to take Rosa out and then after an hour of lazing in bed I get up and do the feeding round, which Carlotta is used to. She's usually sick waaaaaaaay after eating though so it was normal for her to be sick so long after eating.

I'm glad that Carlotta is recovering from her tooth extraction op well enough to play with Mieze. My Bramble had to have 3 teeth out last year and she was fine and wanted to eat as soon as she got home - I think she was more worried about being left at the vets and was so relieved to see me. I hadn't realised that Bramble had any problems with her teeth and I only mentioned to the vet that her breath was awful smelling.

Glad Bramble was okay right afterwards! Did she ever act like it hurt after the pain meds wore off? Carlotta seems to be in a right bad mood now so I wondered if it was hurting a bit haha.

Nice to hear Carlotta has recovered from the effects of the op. hope she isn't sick again.
We must be lucky our cats' breath doesn't smell unless they've just been eating.
