Does anyone have a dog which snores? Skip has very recently started snoring. He will be 11 this year, people are surprised to hear this,as he doesn't have any signs of arthritis, and his coat is very glossy and healthy looking. He has been dashing about in the local woods over the weekend,so don't think he has any problems health wise, but I am very puzzled by the sudden snoring.

My dog Kobi who is 3 snores a lot and has done for a while. I'm not sure what to think about your dog suddenly starting to snore.

Yep lots of loud snoring here...... From Cooper & hubby!! But only one of them is a flat nose smoochie boy. There are many reasons for the sudden start of snoring (like Change of sleeping position, being Overweight or Nasal Congestion and of course more serious things like cysts etc) But if you are worried maybe you could just have a visit to the vets for a look up the nose and in the throat. I'm sure it's nothing to serious his still running about like a loon and enjoying life like a pup.

Oh dear Gladys, your hubby will be pleased at being called flat nose smoochie boy tee hee! Skip is having a nap after run on perishing cold beach, and isn't snoring at the mo.Am wondering if snoring could be linked to allergy he sometimes has, where he makes honking snorting sound, which stops when I cover his nose for a couple of seconds.

HaHa!! Yeah luckily hubby doesn't come on the forum. Yeah could it be mucus in back of throat that affects the air way and then causes a reverse sneeze... maybe?? What allergies does he have?

None really Gladys apart from that;he had the horrible itchy problem a couple of years ago,but it didn't return thank goodness. That really was a nightmare and drove him and us crazy,it caused him to scratch chunks of fur out,but couple of injections from vet sorted it out very quickly. Good job Skip rarely gets anything wrong with him(touch wood!)as he will go to the vets and sit in the waiting room very happily, then freaks out in the surgery,he gets in a corner so no one can get near him.People who know him refuse to believe this of him as he is so laid back and calm.Just proves how a scared and cornered dog can change character. On his last booster vacc, vet came into waiting room and was chatting to us and Skip, and as we walked towards the surgery, vet jabbed him so quickly,he hardly noticed...was very impressed at him being such a good shot. When I pick up his tooth gel,I take Skip with me so he knows every visit doesn't mean pain.

Did you find out what the itching was caused by?
Has he changed his sleeping position? or may be sleeping more deeply???

Didn't find for certain what the cause was Gladys, but it seemed to start on holiday during stay in cottage, thought a previous dog had left a lodger, but no signs of any on Skip,so think it was more likely carpets had been treated with some repellant. Been no snoring today, how strange is that?

Oscar snores most nights. Some nights he can be as silent as an log, other nights he can be a tank.
He is a sleep barker, growler, twitcher and every now and then, runner! Seriously, he barks and growls reguarly in his sleep, along with leg and ear twitching! It is extremely funny, we often joke that he is chasing rabbits or the cat!!! I really should get a video of it!

Ha ha,oh crikey bextull,Skip does that too!they look so funny when they look as though they are dreaming about running and sometimes making yipping noises.Skip often sleeps with one paw in the air,it starts going down, then it pops up again as though he is saluting! He really makes us chuckle, even when he's asleep.Sweet dreams it seems.

Haha, I bet you couldn't! It was a surprise the first time we heard Pepper. I think her snoring is linked to how deeply she's sleeping, like Gladys suggested, as she doesn't snore the whole time she's sleeping. I don't know if she does it when we go to bed either.
