Our gorgeous boy Todd was re-united with his first girlies Breagha and Maddy today. He'd had enough. The previous few days were filled with excessive amounts of all sorts of goodies he enjoyed - pigs ears, chicken nuggets, sausages, bacon, tripe sticks, schmakos, dentastix, lasagne, pasta, and malteasers! He went peacefully, full belly and farting away! He was in his 14th year, so he had a good long life, but we already miss him so so much. Oh SarahHound I'm so sorry to read this but I totally understand your decision. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but I have tears running down my face as I type this, and I'm going to miss seeing all the lovely photos you take of him. Just to say I am very, very sorry to hear of your sad, sad loss.
As you grieve, remember the words of John Fisher, "... the more the person grieves, the more the dog was loved when he was alive. That surely cannot be a bad epitaph."

Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear the news of Todd. Although you won't need them as he will always be in your thoughts & heart, you have posted some lovely photograph memories of him here. It's so heart-breaking to make that last loving decision for you friend but Todd will have loved you for it & be thanking you at Rainbow Bridge where he will be young, healthy again with his friends old & new.

It's impossible to say how very sad and sorry I feel for you Sarah,you and Todd went through so much together.I too think John Fishers words are worth remembering,also the words of Just a Dog?.No one can imagine the terrible pain of losing a beloved pet unless they have gone through it.Remember we are all here for you.

SarahHound, I am so so sorry to hear that lovely Todd is gone. But it seemed the time was right for him and he went extremely happily. He was lucky to have lived with you and had such a great long life. I adore the picture of him running towards you!
RIP Todd you gorgeous boy, you will be sorely missed by many!

There's nothing else I can add that has not already been said and I'm certain there is a "Todd shaped hole" in your heart at the moment. You did everything you could for him and the final kindness was to let him go when the time was right.

So sorry to hear this sad news Sarah. We knew it was coming but it is still a shock. My thoughts are with you. The photos are so beautiful. I'm glad you gave him lots and lots of treats and an extra few months of your care and love.
