Id love to say both my dogs are equal and althou I spend time with them both and treat them exactly the same one I'd say I've got a stronger bond with. Enzo is officially mines an dexter my sisters but she takes nothing to do with him so we always say he's my other halfs since he trains and walks and feeds him. My mum and sister don't have enough patience for Enzo when he's having a crazy time so I feel like I'm forever sticking up for him and fighting his corner coz he's so hyper and daft. Untill the past six -eight months or so he's not really even went to anyone else for a cuddle, he will if you call him but never really just wander up and lie beside but my other half has been working a lot with him to help this. At the same time I've been doing more myself with dexter and taking him out so Enzo has one on one time with other half or my mum (even though it just means they're in the house together) Dexter gets so much more attention when were out and compliments on his shiney coat and Enzo for a while wasn't helping himself as he was being overprotective of me so warning others off. I think I have a great bond with both dogs and in different ways but with various training using myself and other half were fighting Enzos corner so everyone else loves him as much as I do. My sister likes dexter coz she's his but not enough to walk him.... I know EXACTLY how you feel, when we were planning and researching on getting a dog my mum was like 'although he's your dog he's still the family pet so everyone gets to walk/feed/train him' that lasted for a short while when he was a tiny puppy and then the charm wore off and he was left to me, I don't mind as I love my boy and love looking after him but still. That is why I had to show complete dedication to dogs before my parents allowed me to have Earl (this means caring for a bunch of stuffed dogs like they were real, offering to walk family members dogs, getting over-excited at the concept of meeting a dog, reading up non stop about dog care etc). I did it and my dedication has, and always will, shine through!

I was the same, I'd been desperate for a dog for nearly 10 years but we were never in a position to get one when I was younger.
However, we looked after my aunties dog for a few weeks while she went on holiday. A little border terrier actually! I walked him, fed him, played with him, did some basic training with him. When he went back to my aunties, my mam decided she missed having a dog around the house so we began looking into getting one.
Then I became obsessed. I don't think any of us expected owning a dog to explode like it has! Before we had a dog I wanted to be a journalist, that's a bit of a different career to dog trainer!

Same here I had to work to get Milo!! Since I was three I asked for a dog!! I constantly read about them and asked my mum, at my 8th birthday party I actually got my aunty to buy me a dog bed so my mum would feel bad and get me a dog but it didn't work. When I was in my last year of primary school I went onto my little sisters playground to say hi and her and her friends jumped on me to give me a hug- we all fell back, they landed on my ankle and next thing I know I'm waiting for an ambulance!! But after 2 operations, months in a wheel chair and metal pins holding my ankle together I finally got my dog I say all the pain was worth it!!!

I have loved each dog I have owned, and broken my heart over each one when they died.(it doesn't get any easier). It's the price we must pay for the privilege of having them in our lives.
