Mole hills must have a very strong scent,Skip won't leave them alone until he has investigated them.He even managed to carry a mole in his mouth to us once,it was still alive, but goodness knows how he managed it.They are only tiny, and sooo pretty. We quickly put it back, hope it survived and didn't die of fright. Well if the mole did live to tell the tale he must have really impressed his family and friends, "The day I fought a dog and won"!!

Thanks for the welcome BT, yes Jasper is certainly socialized alright, until he finds a fresh mole hill then he's the most unsocial mut you'll come across, ha! But then he is a Terrier, and only 9 months old. Mine's a Terrier too - you simply can't hold back their instincts when they get into action!

I know what you mean BT, but at the moment the park is full of mole hills so walks can be hard work sometimes. But now we let him have a good dig to try and get it out of his system, then we fill the hole back in so nobody falls in it. Everybody who sees him thinks it funny, luck there's a stream there to rinse him off in. :-)

Just seen this thread again, forgot I commented! Jasper looves mole hills. If we walk down the fields he always smells the 'fresh' ones for ages and then weed on them. Think he wants them as his own lol!

LOL you're lucky BT, molehills are the only thing he get protective of, no other dog can join in.

That article confused me too! Milo will never stray too far on walks, he'll usually stay quite close and if he does run off to look at something he constantly looks back to check i'm still there!!! I was very surprised yesterday, he was chasing birds and got a little far away so i shouted stop and he did! Then he came racing right back. He's definitely not needy though, just protective and well controlled on walks!

@miloooo yeah I don't think you can say every dog that acts like in that article are needy. Like I said in another post Cooper will follow me around the house and will do as Milo does on walks, go off ahead but either keep looking back or stop and wait for me to catch up. But he soon settles when I leave him at home on his own. He just loves me....................But not to much, just the right amount!!
