I went out to a family birthday party meal on Saturday at 4pm, hubby's mum was 90 and his step-dad 80, both on Saturday. There was 16 of us there. We had just eaten our meal when hubby's brother in law started to shake and have a funny turn and he then slumped unconscious in his chair. He's 80 and has previously had a stroke and a heart attack. Hubby's brother looked after him as he used to be a nurse. An ambulance was called and when a first responder eventually turned up he had come around a bit and been sick everywhere, poor man. He was checked over and his blood pressure was okay. The first responder said they could wait for an ambulance to come and he could then have an ECG to check his heart. Lyndon's sister said it would be better if she could take him to hospital herself as ambulances can take up to 4 hours to turn up! Other people were turning up for meals and they had to wait for us to clear out from there. We had to leave the birthday cake and balloons there to be collected. My sister-in-law was in the hospital with him from 6.30pm until he was seen by a doctor at 11pm and she came from there at 3am. They think he had a fit, didn't keep him in, and told her to go to the doctors this morning as her husband has fluid on his lungs and needs tablets. We have a brand new hospital in the area and ambulances have been known to have to wait up to 13 hours outside with their patients.

That must have been a nightmare end to the birthday meal lotsofcats. I hope the visit to the doctor went well and that they can sort out the cause.

I managed to speak to my sister-in-law yesterday and she contacted the doctor regarding her husband and her doctor actually made a house call. She told my sister-in-law to take him to hospital for an ECG and a scan. She didn't take him to the rubbish brand new hospital. She was seen straight away and they were even given a cup of tea and sandwiches. She was told her hubby had suffered a seizure because he has a chest infection. He already takes tablets to prevent seizures and has had the dose upped and has been put on a course of antibiotics. Poor brother-in-law can't remember anything about Saturday at all (he has Alzheimers).

Good on the doctor! Glad the other hospital looked after him Ok & that a clear diagnosis was given although that new hospital did give the same info but just not clear to everyone (including what their GP needed to know). Being clear, in what would have been a stressful time for your sister-in-law, should have been something that their staff should have made sure of. Hope the new dosage & antibiotics do the job. Perhaps not remembering might be a benefit.

Near where I work the local council recently installed a crossing for people and bicycles. The road goes over the local stretch of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal. I was thinking that I hadn't seen anyone actually using it when on the way to work one day all cars were stopped either side but the lights were on green! I looked and saw that a little moorhen had popped up the path from the canal and was crossing over the road and went back down onto the canal path on the other side. It was so sweet - he must have wanted a look at the new crossing.

Just popped by to say Hi 😀sorry I have been away for a while but I decided to take some time away from social media - I have been struggling with severe anxiety problems for a while since the loss of my dad in lock down. Scallywag contacted me to let me know about her beautiful beau 🥲🥲I feel so sad for you scallywag such a shock but I also felt pretty bad for not posting for a while - I’m starting to feel a little better and return back to work on Tuesday feeling quite nervous about that . But I promise I will be back on the forum for a chatter and scallywag we are all here for you if you just want a rant . Xxx

Thanks lotsofcats it didn’t go quite to plan - I had to contact my gp for a review- even though I knew I was not ready to return to work this week I was going to give it a go - my gp thinks it is still to early to return to work and she has changed my anxiety medication which will take a few weeks to have an effect she would not sign me back to work - she has signed me off until 6/1/22 - I had to call my manager who is pressuring me to return to work I could tell in her voice she was not happy which makes my anxiety worse 🙈

I'm glad that your gp has realised that your going back to work this side of Christmas is going to be too stressful for you. Have a good Christmas and hopefully the new medication will be the answer.
