My neighbour next door down has a "gardener". I put it in inverted commas as he doesn't know a flower from a weed but he's a lovely man. She just tells him to mow her lawn or cut her hedge or dig a patch of garden. Our gardens at the front are separated by a wire fence between flower borders, which are about 3ft wide. We both have lots of flowers and a fuschia shrub. The fuschia was planted by me but is in both gardens and it is (was) beautiful and is (was) in full bloom. My neighbour asked her gardener to prune it a bit as it was leaning over her steps. He pruned all of it - he leaned over and cut most of it on my side too!! I was fuming. A few years ago he did the same by the side of our houses where my neighbour has a laurel hedge. He cut that and again, leaned over my side and cut all of my mock orange shrub and it never grew back.

I was so happy Wednesday and Thursday as my foot felt much better. Then, on Friday night in bed when I was fidgeting because I couldn't sleep, I managed to kick my foot and hurt it again!!

Oh dear, I hope it's not too sore now. Still painful. I don't know whether to go back to the Minor Injuries Unit to get it checked out.

Update on Alfie: He's recovering very well from his surgery, the incontinence only lasted a few days, he's back to normal now and the cone of shame is gone. We finally got the results of his tests today, sadly it's not good news The lump removed was an aggressive adenocarcinoma, and they didn't get a clear margin so some remains and will spread. The treatment options seemed a bit much for a dog of his age so we've opted to go for the minimal treatment option, he's going to be on long term anti-inflammatories (to slow the spread of tumour) and we will just monitor his quality of life

So sorry that it was not the news you wanted alfiemummy. I hope that you can slow the spread of the tumour so that he will be comfortable. Thinking of you and Alfie.

Thanks for the well wishes all. We're not surprised as such as he is getting on a bit now, it's just sad Nobody seems to have told him he's supposed to be poorly though, he's zooming around as usual and being very demanding!!

Sorry to hear the results weren't what you were hoping for alfiemummy It's good that he hasn't noticed anything, though. At least he's enjoying himself!

Sorry to hear the results weren't what you were hoping for alfiemummy It's good that he hasn't noticed anything, though. At least he's enjoying himself! He's even still coming to work (when it's cool enough)! Honestly I swear Spaniels just don't ever want to age
