It was my son's birthday yesterday and I gave him money and a scratch card in his birthday card. He won £50 on the scratch card.

We had a cloudburst when I was driving home from work yesterday. It was raining heavily when I parked my car in my mother-in-law's driveway and then suddenly down it came. I didn't have a jacket or an umbrella with me and my house is 10 houses up the road. I rang hubby to tell him I was staying put for a while and he said he'd bring me an umbrella. Down he came, opening the car door and threw me an umbrella and a jacket and off he went. When I got out of the car the water was running down the road like a river across a third of the road. All the drains had water bubbling up from them. Down the bottom of the road there is a dip and there was water all across. There is a pub with steps down into it and I suspect they may have been flooded. I've never seen flash flooding like that before.

I'd been at a concert in Newcastle and at the end, we were waiting to be picked up when the rain started. Driving home we had to go through Newcastle for a reason I can't remember now, but I do remember driving along and seeing water shooting up from the drains because the rain was that bad!

Just popping in for a quick hello again! I'm very busy these days so not much time for the computer anymore I've also been enjoying the Olympics, sad its come to an end now! Alfie was 13 last month bless him! He's still doing well for his age although he's been costing me a bomb lately - he kept having trouble with his anal glands (infected) and had a sedation twice to have them packed with antibiotics... it didn't work! Then on the second time they found a small "nodule" which they did a biopsy on and it showed some cancerous cells. He had an operation on Friday to have the glands and the lump removed. They've sent everything away for testing to find out what kind of cancer it is. He's recovering pretty well, although he'll have the cone of shame on for a month!

That's a long time to have the cone of shame, bless him. Hope the findings aren't too awful.

Awwww! poor Alfie, hope he's ok and the result are good.
Hope the incontinence is only due to the meds he's on. {{HUGS}}

Poor Alfie. A happy belated 13th birthday. I hope the operation works and that the results are okay. I hope the incontinence doesn't last too long.

Earlier on in the year I planted potatoes in 4 potato sacks with visions of a big crop of potatoes. I emptied one the other day - I had planted 4 potatoes in there and there was just enough small potatoes for one person!. I emptied the second bag yesterday and there's enough in that one for chips for my dinner today!. I'm hoping the next 2 will have more in them. I also had 5 potatoes left that went into the garden. Altogether the seed potatoes and the bags cost £20! I could buy lots of potatoes for £20.

They never bought seed potatoes, always used what was in the cupboard that had a few shoots on them. Always got loads from them.

There was a reason for my buying seed potatoes cazypops. Years ago my nephew used to deliver bags of potatoes to chip shops and now and again would give us a bag. They made the most gorgeous chips and it was this variety that I bought. Hubby planted some potatoes from the old ones in the house - I expect his will be brilliant.
