I agree.
If an owner scolds a dog too a certain extent then there is a possibility of the dog, next time, fleeing from the presence of the owner to go and toilet (indoors) privately so the owner does not know and have a reason to scold the dog! That is another thing to consider when toilet training your dog.
Thank you for the thread, your advice is written well and may be of huge help to others.

Yes,thank goodness the cruel and pointless practice of rubbing poor animals nose in it is almost unheard of now. We have never had a problem with any of our dogs quickly being house trained. We have simply taken the pup out of doors at regular intervals, especially after waking, but have always stuck to the old practice of newspaper in front of the back door, which the pup has speedily learned to use during the night,so it's simply a matter of removing the paper and replacing with clean ones, (and no,the pups never made any effort to wee or poop on any other newspaper, they twigged the paper to use was in a certain place.)We even managed to house train a pup years ago which had been dumped in our garden before managing to rehome it.

We had Jasper trained fairly quickly by taking him out in the garden at regular intervals, and by picking him up and taking him out if we caught him doing anything.

Is this thread really about 'potty training' or about advertising pet classified web site?

They have, and point out there are tried and tested ways of house training your dog without throwing money at needless products.Owning a dog could be as expensive as having a baby if some pet product firms had their way.

The introducing post has been removed by the original poster it seems! I did not realise this was going to be taken as advertising... I thought petslove1 was giving some general advice! Oh well, at least that's some yet more advertising removed. I wonder if the member is still active, or has been banned from the forum?
