Stanley had to be put down at vets last Thursday because of kidney problems, colitis and anaemia. He was 17 and so was a good age. Obviously we're very upset and wonder whether his brother Oliver will fret. He seems ok at the moment but lived with Stanley since birth. Is he likely to show any signs of missing Stan? I am so sorry for your loss of Stanley. Yes, he was a good age and will be happy now at Rainbow Bridge.
Rest in Peace Stanley.
I had Molly & Max from 5 weeks they were brother & sister. When Max died aged 12, Molly took a few days to actually miss him. Then she called for him every day for sometime. It wasn't all day, just at certain times and I would always comfort her or start a play game. She got lots and lots of love too. Then one day she just stopped calling. I think it affects cats in different ways. Thinking of you.

Sorry to read about Stanley who'll now be happy, young & healthy again playing with all those gone before at Rainbow Bridge.
I've not had cats that were related & had lived together for so long so can't really comment on Oliver's reaction to the loss. I suspect there will be some reaction as even if its not an emotional one he will realise something has changed in his environment & cats are very much aware of changes. I hope you can both provide comfort for each other.
RIP Stanley

My deepest condolences. Run free in the eternal sunshine of Rainbow Bridge Stanley. Gypsy took a good while before she realised lucky was not coming back. Even though they were not related, they were together for 6 years. A few weeks after Lucky was PTS, I found Gypsy sleeping on Lucky's bed (she never did this once before) right under where his ashes are in the house, and she now does this almost every night. Cats grieve much as humans do, but in differing degrees and for differing lengths of time. Lucky's best cat bud Rufus, still comes to the house every day and lies in the spots Lucky used to. Give Oliver lots of fusses and cuddles. Stanley will be playing with my Lucky and Puddycat's Max and all those other beautiful fur babies over the bridge.

Im so sorry to hear about your loss. Stanley will forever be in your hearts. Im sure Oliver will notice the house has lost a part of its structure - one can only be there for him in such times of sadness. Rest in peace Stanley.
