That's absolutely ridiculous.
First off, I wore uniform and didn't really mind it!
We had to wear trousers, a shirt, a tie and a blazer. The blazer was a bit of a nightmare but we were all in the same boat.
We werent meant to have fitted shirts or wear plimsolls but as long as we looked presentable, they didn't mind. We weren't meant to wear heavy make up, jewellery or have 'crazy' hair colours. Hair was taken seriously but jewellery was only taken off for PE.
Saying that its better for people not being able to wear designer clothes, you'd be surprised how many people could get designer gear into their uniforms!
Fortunately we didn't have a bullying problem in my year and we all got on pretty well.
Our Sixth Form was the worst. Girls weren't allowed to wear leggins/jeggins (spelling!?) but we just got ones with zips and claimed they were jeans. Heels were also banned but none of us were that daft.
They also tried to ban guys from wearing shorts and joggers/track suit bottoms. Safe to say they never followed it through.
Also The worst I did on a trip talk to some guys from Newcastle in the same hotel as us on a Spanish trip (although we were told in no uncertain terms not to talk to any other schools).
Nothing bad came from it and I stayed friends with them for a while. I actually went out with one of them for just over 2 years.
I probably should have been a bit more mature as I was helping out (I was in year 10, overseeing the year 8 students) and I didn't really set a good example.
But what would they do, pay to put us all on a plane and ship us back home?
