Just FYI as Natures Menu is mentioned! As most of you know Prize choice is made by same company as Natures Menu. I have noticed that the Prize Choice looks like it will be under the Natures Menu banner soon. Obviously local butchers and meat aisle of the supermarket is better quality meat

Hi Bextull & Caz2golden, thanks for your reply. The reason we would go with Nature's Menu is 1 We have a local stockist 2 No other nearby stockists for any other raw food companies 3 As we are in Ireland no where will deliver here without charging loads I could buy the meat and prepare it myself but my brothers & sisters are all vegetarian and hate having meat in the house, especially as we have our own pet chickens. I think pre-prepared is the only real way we'd be able to go raw. I think Natures Menu is certainly better than what she is on currently, from what I have researched so I think we'll trial it for three weeks and see how she gets on. I know Amber has grain in her kibble before and was fine with it so I don't think that would be a huge problem for her. On the website is says just 15% rice in several of the flavours so it isn't much at all. In terms of the mixed protein sources, her normal kibble is Chicken and then she has a wet topper which has a couple of different meats in so again I think that would be OK, I could keep her on the one flavour just as she gets used to raw. Amber has had lots of different kibbles over the past year as she is so fussy and refused to touch most of them, which meant she'd eat something for a week and then not touch it so I could never properly wean her on to eat but she never had any tummy upsets so far and she is now 2 years old so she doesn't seem to have any problems switching over, I know raw is slightly different though. Has anyone any experience feeding Natures Menu, if so how did your dogs do on it? I will look into it and see if I can find anywhere else I could get hold of the other brands too, although I've tried lots of places all ready. So I think it's Natures Menu or kibble, which do you think is better? I am going to get a few books and my friend also has some she is going to lend me. Any good ones you'd recommend?

I live in Ireland!!!!! Whereabouts are you? I know 3 suppliers that supply much better quality stuff and deliver around Ireland, One delivers certain routes each month for free and they are fairly reasonably priced.

Gráw are a relatively new supplier, but they do have some nice stuff, dogsfirst.ie/raw-dog-food/ I've never used their chubs as I don't usually add veg daily, or offal but their bones are pretty good. We don't have the freezer space to buy in bulk though (yet!) so I've only gotten stuff from them once. They have a facebook page, search "dogs first" and you should find them. You will have to ask them how often they go to Tipp, usually once a month for most places. There are these guys too www.slaneypetfoods.ie/index.php/products-prices/They only do minces though and they do charge for delivery. And then there are these, dogfooddirect.ie/modules/shop/cats/raw-diet/Free delivery from them.

Good, if your dog will eat them! Out of my three, Todd and Katy like raw bones, Lucy will have one occasionally, but she's really not a fan. I've often wanted to feed raw, but she would touch it.

Well we rang up the butchers this afternoon and they said they had some raw bones suitable for large dogs so we are going to collect them and it's free! If they look OK for her then I'll let her try one We'll see how she gets on!

Cooked bones can be brittle. Making them easier to brake off, and choke the dog as well.
