Let me say first that I think Katy looks in tip top condition, she's a beautiful dog. Now to play devils advocate, if people didn't interfere. Be it out of ignorance or not then there would be a lot more poor dogs living in awful conditions. And if that person does report you, I'm sure that the SSPCA would much rather be called out on a wild goose chase that be called out to a neglected animal. Keep up the good work SarahHound, all your pets look in the best of health.

She looks in ngreat shape-plus, look at those teeth in pic 2-------ganshers to write home about those guys!!!!! If she was barely eating/not getting propperly fed her teeth would not be in the good shape they are there.

That's bloody ridiculous SarahHound. Makes me very angry to hear people jumping to conclusions like that! I know, as others do, that Saluki x whippets and greyhounds etc are slim breeds! In fact they're supposed to be slim. Wow it's utterly stupid. Hope everything goes ok - you have not done anything wrong! Underneath her fur Jess is a slim dog, her ribs are like Katy's. So does that mean I should get reported for apparently not feeding her enough? Or is it just that she's a fit, healthy dog like your Katy?

I bet you don't hear anything as it was probably just bravado talk you were meant to hear. I'm no expert but, yes she may look slim compared to some dogs, but no way is she starved etc.! Hope you don't get bothered but as cazypops says if someone does report you then they are trying to do the right thing even if their knowledge etc. is not up to it.

I wish people wouldn't automatically mention Labradors when saying about "grossly overweight" dogs... SarahHound, just so you know, there are Labs that are in great shape around! They're not all obese dogs who plod around everywhere (they're mostly the show stock and are bred TO look fatter - though I have no idea why...) Milo is working stock, is slim, muscular, energetic and extremely healthy. Don't conform to everyone else's stereotyping It makes me sad to see that this is peoples attitude towards the breed.

Some people just have to give their opinion on everything. Katy looks great, yes she is slim but that's her breeds.
I'm constantly getting told by random people my labs need a good feed and they're skinny. They're just over 31kg each and from the pics u can all see they're not skinny just trim and in good shape I'd say. Unfortunately a lot of people are used to seeng a round lab and expect them all to be that.
Hope you don't get hassle but people will always say something about stupid things yet if u were laying into her beating her bet that guy wouldn't have said a word

I was thinking exactly the same. Makes me think back to crufts earlier this year with Loch Mor Romeo and how people were saying he looked overweight yet he won BOB.

I didn't mean to offend anyone on this forum, I meant the ones in my village. There's around 20 Labradors in my village, the most popular breed, and there's TWO I would consider fit. I simply mentioned Labs because the people who said they were reporting me are owners of these huge dogs, who really do plod the odd time they get out for a walk. That's what they are used to, and they see my fit girly and think I am being cruel! It really wasn't being said as every Lab is overweight, just the majority of the ones I know. Really sorry if I wrote it down wrong!

Don't worry about it SarahHound I'm sure someone who is knowledgeable about dogs wouldn't judge a whole breed by the ones they've seen.

Well if they are that large your response to any further comments perhaps should be you should consider reporting them for cruelty which could lead to joint issues and early death due to severe obesity!! Katy looks good on the pictures but reality is you can only really tell once you get hands on the dog.

Last time i checked neglected/ starved dogs don't have muscular bodies and shiny coats! Just ignore the idiots saying pathetic things, they obviously don't have a clue, i hope the SSPCA do come around and see how well your dogs are looked after!!!!!! You can tell how healthy and loved Katy is!! Beautiful pictures

I agree with you if it was people who didn't know me and her, but these people, in my opinion, were simply stirring! Anyway, just an update, nothing ever came of the threat I'm happy to say. I think I'd be more worried about them coming and saying I need to tidy the house than look after my dogs better!
