Check up today with the vet, one of the stitches has come loose and he is going crazy from not being allowed out - yowling by the door and banging his head against it. So much so that today and yesterday we let him out (supervised) for about 20 minutes. The wound looks clean so I'm hoping once the stitches are taken out the vet will say he's free to go out as the poor thing is going barmy!

Arr hope he goes on ok. Poor Oscar he dosn't know why he can't go out bless him, he probaley woudn't but have you thought about him going out on a lead or harness, when we lived at our old house Sindy was a house cat and i used to take her out on a harness.
But if Oscar dosn' t go out of your sight he will be ok a bit of fresh air will do him good. Big kiss for Oscar xx

Bless him - the hardest part is the fact they just dont understand whats happening to them. I wish him well.

Thank you everyone, in all honestythis has been the longest week ever and I can't wait for it to be over (especially as the vet now says the stitches won't be out until Friday!). He's been really timid since he came back from the vets, we let him out and he was gone for 2 hours - normally I wouldn't bat an eyelid at this (He used to go out for up to two weeks!) but in this case I was a nervous wreck. Giving him meds is horrible, he's having to re-learn how to use the litter tray which he hasn't done for a good 7 years and I just hate seeing him so miserable. Did have a little cry when he was whisked off to the vets again as he put up such a fight as soon as these stitches are out I'm letting him out to be the wild rascal I love loads.

Like the others have said the worst part is that Oscar doesn't understand why he can't go out * when he does he'll take advantage. The idea of the harness could be a good idea. Hope all goes well.

Arrr sorry Oscar is not coping well don't forget it is still early days i know how upsetting it can be to see our furry animals distressed but the main thing is you still have him by your side and like i said he will be back to his normal self in no time. You just have to be brave and don' t let him see you are upsett.
Lol xx

Quick little update - he has basically pulled all his stiches out (Think he got fed up with them) and we've now given up with trying to keep him indoors, however he's not going very far anyway so that's all fine. The wound is healing nicely, just wonder what the vet will say when we take him back on Friday only to find there's no stitches needed to be taken out! Looking much happier back in the garden and sun today!

Must have missed your update. So pleased. He will soon work things out in his one eyed world. Please give him a big kiss and cuddle from me; a total stranger but honestly pleased he's come out the other side ok

He is eating and drinking absolutely fine. He was out in the sun all day today and I had the delight of cleaning up a 'present' left in the kitchen so he is totally back to himself, the fur that was shaved around his eye and on his front legs has started to grow back too
