I am on the verge of risking wasting £1.99 on the proboards app that everyone but 2 people are reviewing very poor. Could I have some experience or thoughts of it? Thanks in advance

Yes only £1.99... most reviews says it crashes and you have to reinstall, the other 2 say it works fine...

Well it's up to you then but like I said it is only £1.99. If you have to re install it do you have to pay again?? Maybe you could ask someone on the ProBoard help bit??

I think you do... however I think it might be easier to just make a shortcut on mobile device to the internet browser proboards forum... I could still do with some opinions, thanks for replying gladys

Hi BorderTerrier, I hope you don't mind me replying, I found this topic from a Google alert so I just wanted to lend a couple of thoughts on the matter. I assume you're asking about the iOS version, due to the comment about the ratings? Unfortunately while there aren't many known crashing issues with the app, it appears some users have decided to take to the iTunes reviews to complain about it rather than visiting the ProBoards support forum. The problem with this is that Apple does not provide us direct contact with those reviewers, so we're not able to work with them on the specific issues they experience unless they seek assistance with us first. And of course, you're going to be more apt to review something if you have a bad experience vs someone that has a good experience. So on reviews alone, I wouldn't let that put you off since if you experience any troubles at all, you can feel free to contact us about it on the support forum and we should be able to take care of it for you. With that out of the way, there are a couple of benefits that the mobile app provides compared to browsing the forum with your web browser: 1) A lightweight experience: The app does not use any forum codes or plugins, and does not use a whole lot of external images from the forum. This is particularly good for people that are on a metered data plan from their mobile provider since the app will not use as much bandwidth as you would when browsing with a web browser on your device. 2) The app is always ad-free: This is part of the reason why there is a fee to download the app is because the app does not include any ads at all. I notice that the forum here is already ad-free, so this may not be particularly useful to you if you only browse this forum, but it's one thing to keep in mind anyway. Otherwise if you're not too particularly worried about bandwidth usage, and since the forum here is ad-free, then saving your money and sticking with the mobile view in your devices web browser should be sufficient enough. I hope this helps

The app is pretty much a success, but sometimes when I try to enter threads or post them, an error comes up telling me either my session has expired or my server doesn't accept PB etc etc etc etc! But it works every other time!!!? Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi BorderTerrier you may need to go onto the support forum and open up a query then they will answer you and try and help you sort the problem out. BT they are Americans that do the support so you won't always get an answer straight away x

The PB app has only done this server error thing once today, and I am now getting the hang of it Maybe the error will decrease as I use the app, I don't know. I am very happy with it, and I would have thought it would have cost more than a measly two quid for what it is!! It is not a waste of money at all - I will recommend it! I like it much better than using usual net browser to get on the forum - it's so much more secure and dead easy once you get the hang of it! It even lets you upload photos, unlike PB on the net browser... Watch: Hopefully that worked???!! Attachments:
