Good idea chantel. If he still suffers with constipation buy some lactulose from the chemist - don't say it's for a cat or they won't sell it to you. Just mix a teaspoonful in his wet food - mine have never refused to eat it so I don't think there's any taste to it. Just give it to him once to try it. My Blackberry gets constipated a bit so I give her one spoonful every few days and that works for her. That's new to me whenever booms has that prob vet said now I will have to check the amount but a small amount of liquid paraffin in a small 💉 into his mouth 3 min poop iv had to do it about 3 times over this year but it works

Thanks for the advice lotsofcats , I have got some lactulose in due to me suffering with ibs - i put a few drops from a syringe and mixed it into his food. He scoffed it as normal and had a much softer poop although I'm scared to give him too much because i don't want it to cause the runs 💩I might put a few more drops into night. Is it normal for older cats to have constipation , Freddy has never suffered with it before and it all started when I changed his food . I think the hard stools is probably causing over straining and streaks of blood. I will see how things go with the lactulose .

I hope the lactulose controls Freddy's constipation chantel. If you see signs of constipation again, try the lactulose every 3 days and see how that goes.
