Well I nearly became a new mommy to a 8/9 yr old tri female rough collie girl called Lola.
i have been a member of the rough and smooth collie rescue uk for some time, they also rescue foreign collies.
It came to my attention that a collie was in need of a home due to been given up by her owners due to working long hours .
she was at another rescue but by the time I had spoke to hubby and filled out a form she was reserved pending home check. I messaged them saying any issues with re homing to get in touch.
so pleased for her but on the other side it has got me thinking 🤔 about a 3rd dog with Riley getting older and I worry about Elsa . I know that Riley would definitely not welcome a puppy but maybe tolerate an older dog so after discussion with hubby we have decided to become foster parents, I contacted the rescue and they said” that although they try to place dogs in their homes straight away to prevent stress moving them around emergencies do come up when they desperately need foster homes temporarily.
They also have permanent foster families where the rescue pay for any vet treatments/ medication for the entire life of the dog , this is mainly for seniors dogs that have health issues to prevent from people taking on a older collie with hefty veterinary bills.
so I have filled out a form to register to be a foster parent, we will just have to see what happens, I think it would be the right decision at the moment because if Riley didn’t take to the collie we can contact the rescue and they would then place the dog in another foster home but fingers crossed I’m hoping for a positive outcome and it would be good for Elsa .
its just so heartbreaking 💔 that so many rescues are struggling to pets in they are bursting at the seems🥲the rescue I adopted Sindy from are struggling, they have over 60 cats and 25 kittens in their care at the moment.
and South Yorkshire police took a mum and 14 kittens in just this week and that doesn’t include a mother nursing her 6 kittens that were left outside the shelter just last week, thankfully another rescue came forward and took them in because sindy’s rescue just have no more room and have put a plea out for foster parents to take in the mum with her 14 kittens 🐱 it’s heartbreaking 💔
i will keep you updated. 🐶
