Good and bad news really don’t know how to process it - the biopsy they took showed that there was no separating of cells so not malignant but what they have said because of where the mass was the cause could be one of two things a food allergy or low immune which can indicate a tumour elsewhere in her body and the lab have recommended a scan, really shocked and upset poor Bella didn’t react well to the last procedure I’m worried how she’s going to cope with all this and how I’m going to cope if they find a tumour 😢

OH no, poor Bella, I really hope it turns out to be an allergy.

Bear in mind the vet has said 'could be cause of one of two things'. I would be looking at the food allergy route first. Or, can they not tell by a blood test if Bella has a low immune system first? As you can guess, scans are very expensive. I can understand you being upset and not wanting to put Bella through another procedure. Some cats are tolerant of treatment and some are not. My oldest cat Bramble has blood in her urine each time I have it tested. Years ago (at least 4 years ago) the vet kept suggesting all sorts of procedures and poor Bramble became a nervous wreck. She is still jumpy nowadays if I'm carrying her and go in a different direction out to the cat pen - she thinks she's going to be put in her carrier to go to the vets. She was terrible for ages, very nervous. Nothing sure came of all her tests, just that there is a little shadow on her kidneys and they suggested I take her for further tests to a specialist vets 25 miles away and I said no. When she goes once a year to the vet for her booster I take a sample of her urine and there is always blood in it, so the vet gives her an antibiotic injection in case there's an infection and I leave it at that. I would never put her through the tests again. One test was to put a needle directly into her bladder to draw out fresh urine. I had to starve her the night before and she should have had an anaesthetic to have the procedure but, I saw something on the computer screen that suggested they didn't bother to anaesthetise her and perhaps just sedated her a bit - no wonder the poor girl was terrified of going to the vets after that - she actually peed all over the table the first visit after! She has got to the age of nearly 15 and is a very happy cat at the moment.

Thank you for this lotsofcats it did make me question them, they basically said because of where the mass was found they would’ve always recommended ruling out the worst case scenario first hence the scan, they have said it’ll be an ultrasound under sedation (which I’m worried about because as you’ve said she’ll know what’s going on) having said that I’m pretty stressed about everything right now, I have said ( not to the vet but family don’t trust vets after Molly) unless they find something concrete she’s not having anything else done poor girl had such a bad reaction last time, I personally don’t think there’s much wrong with her she’s so healthy, eating well just a happy fat cat , she’s booked in on Tuesday because of the what if factor I’d hate myself if a tumour was missed because of a decision I’d made but hopefully after Tues that’s the end of it 🙏

Thank you all, its all good news the scans have shown that everythings completely normal, her lymph nodes are normal and they’re happy for me to just monitor her and if I get worried about anything to take her back but they’re confident with the scan results, with regards to the allergy theory he said absolutely anything could’ve caused an allergic reaction but their biggest fear from the biopsy was it was a secondary mass to something more serious, so relieved feel like I can finally breathe. Just hoping I can claim something back on insurance cost nearly £900 that includes her dental so won’t get that Xxx

What brilliant news and at last you can breathe a sigh of relief and Bella can recover from her vet visits. As the saying goes 'better to be safe than sorry'.

I’m definitely not her favourite person tonib both yesterday & today she’s pretty much stayed away from me, was a little sad this morning as we normally have a 15 minute snuggle fest before I even get out of bed but nothing today, only her hiding behind doors 🙁 hopefully she’ll come round soon. As for her over-grooming I’ve not seen any today although her belly is pretty bald from the ultrasound, I’m just relieved it’s all over x

Bella will love you again soon molly9. Offer her some favourite treats and hopefully she will come round soon. It's not fair is it?, the vet does all the horrible things to her and you get the blame.
