He seems fine, other than his neck being bald & having a stitched wound in it he doesn't seem any different. Still wanting his food (7 pouches a day) & drinking well. His blood glucose results are a bit up & down but then his body is having to adjust to the change in thyroid homes (hopefully reduced). We've an appointment with the vet at 10:30 am tomorrow so I'll see what he has to say. Here's photos of his op "wounds" taken the evening he came home. The vet was pleased with him today. It looks like he's needing less insulin but its still early days. We go back on Thursday to have his stitches out & a review of meds/way forward.

I’m just having a catch up poor Roman he’s certainly having it tough - glad he is recovering well after his surgery. They bring us so much worry but it sounds like he definitely is on the mend.

Since he's home the worst part is he can't wear his collar & as a result goes hungry on occasion, luckily he got wise & quickly comes to tell me before I get out of the room.
It's a case of old habit die hard. All 3 cats have microchip feeders but unfortunately the microchips implanted from the rescue (i.e. Roman, Osiris & historically Penny) have a weak signal (some microchip catflaps & feeder manufacturers say they can't read them . Lexie's is another brand of chip. As a result for cats with those chips have a tag on their collar which activates the feeder instead.
In theory the chip might activate the feeder if they get really close but usually when the feeder doesn't open they back away before its close enough. As he can't wear his collar yet, I have to leave his feeder open & make sure Lexie doesn't get his food, usually by shutting him a room while he eats. With Roman having a number of feeds a day I occasionally automatically close the feeder as would be the norm & quickly vacate the room to feed the others etc.
Roman certainly lets me know when I next go in the room but is now getting in the habit of rushing to his food & calling if its not open before I leave!
I'll reprogram his chip into the feeder as its possible that when he had a replacement I only programmed in the tag, although I could have sworn the opening light came on the 1st day whilst he was eating from an open feeder indicating it had recognised a chip/tag but it hasn't since.
The other down side is he can't wear his harness so no going outside for him. I've got some cat grass indoors but he doesn't seem interested & does try to get out to get some.

Roman certainly knows how not to go hungry. So, tonib, you're on food guard all day!

Not all day lotsofcats, he clears his bowl in one go anyway so I just shut him away from Lexie ,or vice versa, when he gets his food!

Just seen this, it's all been happening since I've been away. So glad to see that Roman has come through fine. Plus it looks like it could have been a blessing in disguise. Hope his diabetes improves as well. Must have been a big worry for you tonib.

Back to the vets today to have his stitches out & a review of how we go forward. Unfortunately there'd been a mix up when booking & it was his normal (head) vet's day off. Still the vet we did see was very nice & removed the stitches but would rather have the head vet review Roman's meds etc. so we're back on Saturday to see the head vet.
However yesterday I found a sticky patch on the top of Roman's tail & when I brushed it a fait amount of fur was in the brush. The vet had a look & thinks Roman may have been overgrooming so I'm to clean it with Hibiscrub & get it looked at again on Saturday. Unfortunately while we were in with the vet an emergency (they were expecting) was brought in, so he had to go see to that. No idea what but whatever it was was unconscious by the snippet I heard.
With the eased restriction my line dancing classes have restarted so I was there between 2 & 4 pm with Roman kept in the living room having had a pouch of food at 13:40 & I was planning to give him his last 50g pouch when I got back (normally that's 3-30pm) but he'd been well & truly sick! All of the last pouch & maybe a little more. Poor boy, no idea why.
He's now had that last 50g & I hope he keeps it down.

I wonder why Roman is overgrooming. Kai Ruki does it all the time and especially more now the weather is very hot. The heat could have made Roman sick. I hope he keeps the rest of his food down.
I hope you enjoyed your line dancing class. that's one thing I've not tried but would like to. My aerobics class hasn't started back yet - a blessing in disguise as I wouldn't be able to do the standing exercise with my injured foot. I would try the floor exercises though.

As to the overgrooming I'm not so sure as I've not seen hims grooming his tail. On the of the first things the vet said was that he didn't think Roman had broken his tail. An interesting concept as Roman has a few falls when missing his jump on to the worktop. A combination of a weakened leg (historic Achilles tendon injury), arthritis & his HCM not giving him energy he used to have (the latter was what the head vet said the day he was diagnosed with HCM as that was one of the reasons (along with his weeping eye) why I'd taken him to the vets. I must admit he has taken some purlers but has always seemed OK afterwards. Since his heart diagnosis & meds he does seem better at making his jobs. I'll remind the vet on Saturday about this. Fingers crossed he's kept his food down since. lotsofcats I enjoyed the line dancing but it did show how little exercise I've done since last summer's lockdown when I went out walking (not far but more than I've done since that lockdown was stopped) as it kept from being stir crazy at home with just the minimum outings for food (human & cat) shopping. I definitely felt the arthritis in my left knee but it was only with some movements particularly weight bearing on that leg that caused a problem. But it seemed better the more I did, although I didn't do the bunny hops forward that 1 dance called for!! I hope your foot improves so that you can go back to your aerobics when it reopens.

Glad that Roman has kept his food down.
When I first had twinges of arthritis in my knee I used to find it got better the more of my aerobics class I did. Unfortunately my right knee got worse and now I can't do any weight bearing exercise on my right leg. I used to really like the high impact aerobics, I used to go 4 times a week years ago and felt super fit, those were the days!
