I was out in the side lawn today weeding twas melting hot there was a kinda flutter passed me and a sparrow hawk took one of the little birds all I'm hoping is he doesn't return but my fear is he will ok I understand he prob has a nest full waiting for food but it's cruel I know exactly how you feel spider. I know it's nature but why do they have to do it in front of us! Like you, I feel so sorry for the little bird that the sparrow hawk caught. He probably won't return. I've got a garden full of sparrows and other small birds and I've been in the garden when the sparrow hawk has whizzed past my ear to try to grab one. I thought he'd be back lurking to try again but he didn't come back, thank goodness. Nature is cruel!

They are really fast. I was once parking my car in the carpark for the doctors and a sparrow hawk zoomed in front on my car and grabbed an unsuspecting sparrow off the ground.

We have a buzzard near us, and sometimes when I'm walking down the path through the woods it will hover overhead. I'm sure it's checking Jasper out.
