Poor Riley. At least your vets are trying to sort it out. Kobi has suffered with his ears on and off for years. The vet just gives him drops and ear cleaner. His one ear is particularly bad but the vet has never offered to sedate him and have a good look in it. But, fingers crossed, his ears have improved recently and the only thing different is that I changed his food to grain free. Thanks lotsofcats he does seem a little brighter and touch wood i’v not seen him today shake his head. we all managed to get a good sleep last night 😀x

Like everyone says , hope the meds work and sedation is not needed. Good luck with him wanting extra food steroids can have quite an affect on the appetite sometimes xxxx Thank you scallywag the steroids must be giving him an appetite which is good because he is a very fussy eater normally. he made me laugh 😆 this morning because it normally takes him a while to come downstairs 🐾he is very unsure on stairs and won’t even attempt to come down unless you walk down the stairs with him with one hand touching his back 🙈I came downstairs on my own this morning and let Elsa out for a wee and was just about to go back upstairs for him when I just glanced around and saw him just sat on the settee 🛋 little monkey he must have wanted his breakfast 😂😂x

Nice to see Riley is feeling better chantel. Maybe the meds are also having the side effect of soothing his anxieties and giving him confidence too.

Perhaps that's the problem with Kobi, I've had terrible trouble with him and his upset tummy. A lot of the time he is on steroids.

They both have really sensitive tummies lotsofcats anyway but I don’t think the meds have really helped although I have had to stop them this morning 🙈I have been sat up with Riley all night I had to bring him downstairs at 1:30am because he was panting constantly and he was wide awake he could not sleep 💤 so I sat up with him last night we didn’t even get 1 hours sleep 😴 so feeling very tired today 💤he’s had 4 days worth of the meds and so far i’v not seen him shaking his head or scratching his ear.

Our younger dog does not tolerate steroids at all well. After a couple of days she has horrendous diarrhoea 🤢......which is bad news as they are often given for tummy upsets that will not settle and as she has IBD it becomes a vicious circle. And I feel your pain regarding lack of sleep. Something " spooked her" at about 1.00 and I spent the next umpteen hours trying to keep her calm, giving up at about 5.30. We were out walking by 6.30.....having hung some washing out, emptied the dishwasher and tidied up!! 😴 I hope Riley continues to improve and that he ( and you) has a more restful night.

Elsa was anxious panicking about Riley we could just not settle her 🙈it’s exhausting especially having to go to work with no sleep at all 💤fingers crossed 🤞 we get a good nights sleep tonight 😴

I’v got a vet appointment for Riley Tuesday evening to get a small lump checked out that I found on the left side of his neck. I found it whilst grooming him today. When I phoned the vets today hoping to get him booked in tomorrow- she told me that it was only for same day urgent appointments only 🙈 She told me that it would be £55.00 for a consultation and if I wanted to leave it for a couple of weeks to see if it changes - but I said I would rather get it checked out - she said that’s fine then but it would be the advice that a vet would give. So he’s booked in for Tuesday. Elsa had a similar looking lump on her pad if you can remember I sent a photo into the vets I was concerned but it has totally disappeared now . I’m just keeping my eye on it .

Hope all goes well with the vet.
Your consultations are even more expensive than ours (£48.00) and almost as bad as a friend of ours who pays £58.00 . When Nutmeg was at the emergency vet in May it cost us almost £250.00 to walk through their door.😲

I did ask hubby if he wanted to monitor it for a couple of weeks to see if anything changes but he agreed with me let’s just get it checked.
