Lexie has been having few hairballs recently but yesterday at least 2 cigars & she was really heaving to get the one I saw out. Another was found this morning hidden by one of her beds which I don't think was there yesterday. She has been washing Roman but he's been missing since Monday morning until yesterday afternoon & at least one of yesterday's was before he came back. She still has been pooing so it seems there's probably no blockage but I'd like her checked out & possible get something to help her pass all the fur. She does moult a lot but despite brushing always seem to have more!
I rang the vets this morning & she has an appointment at the vet hospital this afternoon at 16:40. Our local surgery didn't have anything until Monday.

Good luck at the vets with Lexi. She must have felt left out with the vet visits. All my cats sick up the cigar hairballs. I brush them every day but they still have them.

I wasn't too worried about her having hairballs it was the amount she'd had in the last couple of days bearing in mind past history with intestinal issues. The vet couldn't find anything obviously wrong with her but we got some hairball paste, they didn't have any at the hospital but my local surgery did (the one that didn't have am appointment until next week So all paid at the hospital & I picked the paste up on the way home She happily had some off my finger as well. The vet we saw was the one who saw Roman on Monday & diagnosed diabetes. Even before asking about Lexie he asked "how's Roman" & from knew about the increased food & commented that he was a big cat If she still has digestive issues - I mentioned the rather smelly fart she did today! - then they may look at probiotics for her.

Hopefully the paste will help get rid of the hairballs. Nice that the vet asked after Roman. When I took Kobi to the vets yesterday it was the vet that wanted me to have Kiba-Khan put to sleep, but she didn't recognise me.

No hairballs since the vet visit yet. Knowing my luck at the moment is that will be famous last words I hope not

I have a issue with fur balls with Freddy at the moment . He is always grooming himself- he was initially sick at least twice a week and majority was fur - I have started to comb him but it doesn’t really stop him grooming. I have since tried him on some hills food reduce furballls and he has only been sick once in about 4 weeks but I don’t know if that’s the food or the fact I am grooming him 😻

I spoke too soon lol I was just preparing lunch when Freddy started making a very loud growling noise then he was sick but only a small amount of fur came up . I’m going to try him on wet food for 1 week I was wondering if it was anything to do with him not digesting the dry biscuits because he is greedy and gorges them down very quickly. If things don’t get any better it looks like a vet visit- although he is booked in on 23rd sept for a dental . I’m interested to see how lexi goes on at her vet visit tonib

Well since the vet visit no more hairballs from Lexie chantel. I gave her the remove hairball (25mm) dose for 2 days -she licked it straight from my finger - & will give her the prevention dose (6-13mm) weekly for a while & then see that happens. I've noticed her faeces are just little larger but not excessive) so that probably means that things are passing through better. The paste is lax-a-past but historically I've also used Katalax. I've no experience of the Hill's hairball food, I think I tried Royal Canin's equivalent once a few years ago - can't remember who for although it might have been Penny) but as Lexie's digestion has issues with food other than JWB - she, herself, has no problem with any other food - she's very food driven! The grooming will definitely have helped - I probably don't do Lexie as much as she needs. It is possible that Freddy's gorging could have caused that last vomiting but if he eats his kibble like that daily then I would have expected it more frequently although I suppose this could just been a been faster than normal & reached his limit! Hope you don't have to take him to the vet & good luck with his dental in September

Hope you don't have to take him to the vet & good luck with his dental in September Thanks tonib - well we have decided to stop the dry kibble and add warm water to the kibble and add a little felix - I think he gorges the dry kibble down so quickly and he’s not digesting it properly then its causing him to throw up. I have decided to feed him little but often - I watched him at teatime and even though he was eating from his slow feeder he was eating so quickly he had to stop and get his breath , I also mixed som elm bark in that I had already had made up for the dogs I thought it might help coat his tummy . So the plan is to feed wet food little and often with some elm bark and a daily groom which he doesn’t seem to mind - obviously if things still persist then I will mention it to the vet before he goes for his dental. He goes into the Cattery in a couple of weeks so I will ask them to keep an eye on him and I will also take his slow feeder dish . Hope the paste works for Lexi 😊
