A bit late on this story but ...
24th April I got a cat starting to hang around. It looked skinny although it did have an oddly fastened collar & was hungry. I held off until 25th before feeding it as it was rather plaintive. I was in isolation (see another thread) so prepared a leaflet with photo which I asked a neighbour to drop into another nearby house who I thought had a similar cat but got no response.
Fed it a couple of days & looked at the local lost pets FB page. I actually joined FB (no comment anyone please! ) as you had to be a group member to post but then it didn’t appear again so didn’t actually post.
On 1st May, when my 7 days were up, I was coming back from a walk & passing that other house just as the owner came out so asked about the cat. The one I remembered was a past cat of theirs so not the one I’d seen. However she knew the cat that had visited me, it had been staying with her & upsetting her cats since I last saw it & she’d arranged for the RSPCA to pick it up (the day before) to check for microchip (it wasn’t). It didn’t want to oblige & bit its tongue so the RSPCA took it a vet.
As we were talking I saw come round the corner & she was surprised, she didn’t even know the RSPCA were letting it go. It calmly walked past us, down her drive to the back! Cheeky. Anyway I managed to post on the FB group & landed up cross posted with someone who was reporting their cat missing.
It then visited me & vanished again but I'd managed to find its owner & eventually it was found back at that neighbour and taken home that evening.
11th May he appeared again but made his own way home before the owner got my message & apparently did the same on 9th May when he’d visited the other house! 24th June he visited me again – I found him indoors as I’d left the back door open. Told the owner but don’t know whether he made his way home again or they came to gt him!
