Just home from the vets , Beau has a heart murmur, now I know why he doesn't want to walk far and get breathless also he has not been too happy climbing the stairs of late , he backs off then approaches and then backs off, almost like getting geared up for it. He wines and moans too cause he doesn't want to do it. Last night I carried him up No way will he settle down stairs for the night , he is too used to our company That's all down to his spine , and his back leg goes from under him sometimes too.

Aw bless him. That's old age catching up with him. What a worry for you. Kobi is the same, he doesn't want to walk very far. What's the treatment for Beau?

Awwww! poor Beau, I hope the tables can help him. He must be very heavy to carry up stairs, please be careful. We don't want you having an accident. Do you give him any supplements, like Yumove or Devils Assist? ( think that's the name for it) I give Jasper a daily dose of Yumove to help with his hip.

Aww, poor Beau. I agree with cazypops! Be careful carrying him upstairs. Pepper has taken to sleeping upstairs since I've been leaving her crate open (it's easier to wake her when she's not in an enclosed space). Devil's Alternative is the supplement I think cazypops is talking about. I've started giving Pepper it and it does seem to have done her good. Not sure how much it might help Beau's condition, but could be worth looking into?

Oh no poor Beau, did the vet prescribe any painkillers for him for his spine. Iβm dreading it when Riley gets old and canβt get up and down stairs πheβs 25 kilos - he will have to be carried up and down - same has Beau no way would he sleep down stairs due to his noise phobia he likes our company it makes him feel safe.
I keep saying we will have to buy a bungalow for him lol π

Sorry to hear about Beau's problems and hope the medication starts to help him feel more comfortable soon. PS my little doglets only weigh between 7.5 & 8 k so carrying them up the stairs isn't too difficult if I need to do so π. Knew there was a good reason we have small dogs !

Medication is doing what it needs to do re the heart, so have to monitor it incase dose needs adjusting, if he starts coughing etc thats a sign. So guess his bank account will start to be used. The bill so far for 2 visits and meds was Β£207 On going monthly meds costs Β£70 I asked if I had a prescription can I get them cheaper on line , he said there would not be a lot in it so why bother paying for a prescription ( which in Tobi's days was about Β£8 ? ) relying on the post etc to get them.

Good news that the meds are doing their job. Our older dog has an on going condition which requires a monthly prescription. We now get a written script from our vet who makes it out for three months at a time and we buy the medication from an on line pet site. Prescription costs Β£17.50 and med is under Β£30.00.( Total just over Β£100.00) , but each item of med would cost Β£69.00 from vet so it is well worth us doing as we do.( And we have an unusual vet who totally understands why we do it. As he says - they cannot possibly buy in the quantities that on line companies do so they do not get the discounts that bulk buyers do.) I do like my vet !!!!

Sorry to hear about Beau's issues scallywag. Regarding the prescription I would definitely look into this yourself, Alfie's joint meds are a hell of a lot cheaper online, even with the prescription costing Β£11 each time.
