For the last few weeks boomsey just hasn't been himself a little distant well he was never a lap cat at any time but when we would sit to watch tv he would sit on his rocker till he would fall asleep he would sit with me while I made dinner mooching about talking to himself most of the time well slowly that all stopped we would go for a walk in the mornings now that I'm at home we would sit outside in the sun and unlike him he would sleep this seemed to be slowly getting more obvious something was going wrong we were saying if he hadn't improved by Friday when I went shopping we were going to visit James the vet decision made how to explain to a vet his mood and behaviour has changed but he wasn't in pain coz he wouldn't hide but if I lay beside him in a few min he would walk away them kinda changes two evenings ago this is the bit I kick myself about my OH said it could be the olbus oil burner in the sitting room it's one of these u light a candle under and it heats the water and oil on top we stopped using it and opened the windows and the next morn when I went to pick him up well he sniffed me all over like his nose had just started working and today the nuck is as good as he was when he was a kitten it's stupid of me not to have figured that out isn't it simple things that trips a person up so glad we figured this out

I was worried too. I wonder what part of the Olbus oil that was effecting him. I'll have to look up in my aromatherapy text books to see if it says anything about menthol or camphor that can effect animals.

Glad to hear the problem was so easily resolved spider, once you worked it out!! But it must have been very worrying. It may not be a specific problem with olbas oil but could just be it making Moonbeam's home smell different to his very sensitive nose & hence distressing him.

Oh bless him! He is definitely a sensitive boy. Glad you found the cause and he's okay now.
