Has anyone else heard about the rumor that if you have ever used Advocate or Milbimax (in pets lifetime) then you should never use the other?
Just something someone said to me today!!
I have never heard this before and wondered if I was just being dense!
I'm Confused!!
Hopefully will have more info tomorrow evening!!

If whatever drug in these products is staying in the dog that you shouldn't use both, no matter how long between doses then I wouldn't want to use them anyway.
Think I'll stick with Drontal!

Not heard that before but like crazypop said if it's true then is makes you wonder why.
Some drugs stay in the system for a while but I can't see how they would stay in long enough from one worming month to when you are due to worm again?!? And even if they did why would they react with just another brand of wormer??

OK,
I think the end of the conversation I have had today is if you use one of these products and want to change check very carefully with your vets.
There is no smoke without fire I guess!!
Sounds like when Advocate first came out there was uncertainties about the two products interacting if either had ever been used.
I wish Gypsy was still on here as I am sure she would have known the answers!!

Worked today And I use Milbemax (it doesn't have an 'i' in it, I checked the packet ) and I have never heard that rumour. I find it weird that the rumour just involves these two particular products - my question - why?

Typos happen an i vs an e is not the same as using the wrong word altogether!! back to the thread:- Ask your vet! My vet has concerns.

Have used Drontal for years and it is a good product. Only downside is it does not cover the lungworm element! Will still use Drontal if we have a prolonged dry period or during the cold winter months when snails are not as active

Try asking Vonnie on the forum, as she is a veterinary assistant nurse, about the risks of changing.
