Welcome back to the forum. Glad that you and Duchess are well and staying safe. I've not heard of any local cases of Coronvirus. Did you have to queue long for the supermarket? I hope that you are back on the forum for good.

It's heartbreaking it really is. Got home last evening and saw this paw creature on the steps, on its side, struggling.
It was a smallish rat, too big to be a mouse, beige in colour but as I spoke to it, it was the eyes you see, looking up, pleading for help.
Lets see what we could do for you I said and returned with a cat popper scooper and managed to get the rodent onto that and lifted it on to the step above so that it lay flat but then I could see that it was dragging it's back kegs and they might be broken.
In the small front garden I placed it among foliage and the bushes, I don't think that it would survive long though.
Clearly Duchess's handiwork and it upset my evening greatly. A neighbour (Tim) when I told him said that I ought to have told him where it was and he would have "got rid of it properly".
That didn't improve my mood. You see, if something is dead it's dead, I can cope with that.
Seeing something left begging for its life after a brutal assault is something quite different to me.
An animal is an animal and a life is a life.

I feel the same as you. I can speak from experience and tell you that the poor creatures usually die quickly.

I feel the same when Osiris brings in a live (of various conditions) present. I have to make the decision as to whether it will survive, in which case I take it up the road to the country park out of the immediate way of the cats or if badly injured sadly make sure its wrapped in kitchen roll & use a well aimed brick on the patio I don't like it but I can't see them suffer.

Agreed, itβs not nice to see them suffer. Silly used to bring live presents to me. I was hoping just having cats in the house would be enough to keep them away but they still come in.

Omg silly for a cat IV cats called most unusual names usually it takes me time to name some of mine and they show antic or behaviour like twirley and dancer rip dancer those were the first two cats that lead me to the 30 I now care for all over the town how they got these names as I would walk up the ally way to where I still.feed twirley would weave between my legs so much so I would have to walk slowly not to get tripped up while dancer would dance her way up the drive ahead of us stopping to see where we were at poor dancer passed over after a rta twirley is the oldest of all indeed for a free spirit he is must be coming on 11 at this stage but as for strange names Iv got a lot of strange names a black cat called snow a black and white called Katie all have a story behind there names mischief is the best mannered cat ever we were watching a TV show and there was a whale on called mischief and so she got her name funny things names

There's no name stranger than Flirty, He got his name like yours spider. When ever he saw me come home from work he would run up the street and lay on his back with his paws in the air like he was flirting with me, so got nicknamed Flirty girty that got shortened to Flirty or Flirts. Better than his original name of Debbie.
