Bella’s just had her annual vaccination on Saturday & she seems so poorly today, she’s hid all day which is normal in this heat but she’s not coming out now with the sun down I’ve tried tempting her with dreamies etc didn’t work, she has just briefly shown her face but not eaten or drank anything she has a snotty nose, is listless & her breath stinks she’s now gone back to her hiding place, I’ve had lots of cats but this is the worse reaction I’ve seen 😔 has anyone else seen their cats suffer this badly after their jabs, feel so guilty & it’s her birthday tomorrow as well

He had this massive drool from his mouth. Where im coming from is I googled symptons , and stinky breath was mentioned ! And heat stroke ! Could she be suffering maybe from the heat ?

I would phone the vet molly9. It could be the heat affecting Bella as well but I would definitely ring the vet and get an appointment. I hope they can get her sorted out for her birthday.

Yay Bella’s drinking water so relieved xxx Birthday Girls on the mend xxx Ooooo so pleased , was just about to reply then scrolled down to this. If she doesn't take enough on board are you able to syringe a little into the corner of her mouth ?

Glad that the birthday girl is happier today. I've been mixing a spoonful of water in all of my cats' wet food meals during the hot weather. Try that molly9 if you don't have a syringe to put some water in Bella's mouth. Happy Birthday Bella.

I have been feeding Freddy mostly wet food during the hot weather, he hardly drinks any water so I usually put a little on to his wet food for him and I also give him cat milk . It’s very difficult when they don’t drink much water , but I would just add some more water onto his food 😊 Happy Birthday Bella xx

I've not had any cats react to their vaccinations (luckily) but my friend Ajax has had the odd occasion & it only lasted a few days, humans can do it on occasion as well especially if a live vaccine is used. Glad to hear Bella if getting back to normal molly9, but as others have said it could be heat related so making sure she gets additional water by more wet food or with extra water added. Luckily 2 of ours drink well normally but I rarely see Osiris drink but he only has wet food & he's being picky about his food but all 3 are mainly staying in cool shade. If she doesn't pick up then a vet phone call/visit could be a good idea is only to check that she's not dehydrated.

So much better thank you tonib so much so she managed to bring home a live blackbird today luckily it lived 🤦🏻♀️think she had a bad reaction that lasted 48 hrs I wasn’t so much worried about food it was the not drinking because she naturally drinks a lot anyway & she was so lethargic not sure if it was just the vaccination or a combination of that and the heat but such a different cat today back to her naughty self 🤣Xx

That is good news. It still might be worth letting your vet know about Bella's reaction in case he gets other reports from the same batch of vaccinations or he has changed from/to live vaccinations or brand.
