I'm designing a dog collar for an A level project. It will be for dogs to use after surgery, like an Elizabethan collar. I need advice and help on the design of the collar.
It will look and feel like a normal collar, but when the dog tries to move its neck- for example trying to reach a wound- the collar will inflate, preventing the dog from irritating the wound. The collar will only inflate when the dogs neck reaches a certain point, not just as soon as it moves its neck because that would be very unnecessary and awkward for the dog, restricting their movement greatly. It will also be transparent, so the dog has optimal vision when the collar is inflated. The collar will need the owner to press a button, in order for it to reset and deflate again. This product can be reset and used many times, it is not just a single use item. Kevlar will be combined with the inflatable part of the collar, so that the plastic will not get destroyed and pierced by the dog if they try and bite it.
The aims for this product are to make recovery of the dog easy and as stress free for themselves and their owner.
Any advice or recommendations of people I could gain advice from would be appreciated.
